Summary
Following his reveal at Champmattieu's trial, Monsieur Pére Madeline is no more. Jean Valjean has been recaptured and finds himself once more in the Bagne de Toulon. However, having sworn to Fantine that he would find and rescue her daughter, he is determined to not stay long. Perhaps this fifth escape attempt shall prove his last, and he shall quit the binds of Toulon for the last time.
This is a story about a fall from grace and the resolution of the human spirit to endure through the most dire of circumstances. How can one who has already risen from the ashes of a former life bear to do so once again?

James Vega wasn't exactly planning going back to the Alliance, but when Admiral Anderson showed up in the middle of a bar fight, he knew he couldn't exactly say no. This story follows James and Shepard through the events of Mass Effect: Conviction and beyond as he is assigned to guard perhaps the most important prisoner in the galaxy: Commander Shepard.
