The Centaurs locker room had never been quiet, but this was… different. A different version of energy ever since the news had dropped.

Like the air before a storm, except instead of lightning it was a bunch of grown men pretending very badly not to lose their minds.

“Don’t be weird about it,” their assistance captain, Bood said for the third time, tying and retying the same skate lace, throwing glances at his phone where the media post was pulled up as if he was making usre it didn’t disappear in the three seconds he stopped looking at it for. “We all knew this was a possibility since Rozy and Hollander were outed. We all knew Hollander might come to the Centaurs.”

    Summary

Shane had never actually been in a fight in his eleven year career with the NHL. There have been close calls with scrums and that one time with Scott Hunter but he'd never quite gotten the chance to throw hands for fear of being ordered out of the league by some offended alpha.

So the whole hockey world gasped when Shane Hollander dropped his gloves.

OR: Shane returns to Montreal for the first time as a visitor and it goes about as well as you'd expect. He punches the shit out of Dallas Kent as a form of therapy.

“Is just a thing I do to help him,” he said quietly. Troy cocked his head.

    “What do you mean?”

Ilya sighed, glancing around to make sure that Shane and everyone else were out of earshot.

“He gets… quiet sometimes. Can’t talk. When I see he’s getting like that…” Ilya looked up and pressed his lips into a line for a moment before continuing. “He feels good when he helps me. So sometimes, I maybe pretend to need more help.”

    ---

Troy knows that Ilya knows much more English than he was pretending to earlier that night. He suspects that it had something to do with Shane. After all, most things that Ilya Rozanov does have something to do with Shane Hollander.

Zane Boodram swung the door open, cutting himself off when he saw who waited on the other side.

“Hollander!” he greeted after a second, voice warm but eyes wide in shock. “Wasn’t expecting you tonight!” He paused for a moment, then continued in a softer tone, still warm but growing in confusion. “Not to be blunt, but what the hell are you doing here?”

    “Oh, um… Ily—Rozanov invited me.”

Or, after their fight, Shane turns around.

"Do you moisturise?" Rose asked one night, in the safety of her hotel room. Shane felt the silence in his apartment more keenly than usual that day, almost missing the presence of a tall, blond russian in his arms. He gave up on wallowing by himself when he found that he was so distraught he almost burnt his prepped food—that was meant to be microwaved—in the microwave itself.

"Huh?" was his very elegant response from being half-buried under the sheets. Nose poked out between folds, hair mussed and free from their usual product constraint. Strands of dark hair tickled his eyes—he needed haircut soon—and Shane scrunched his nose, batting them away half-heartedly. Rose watched him with an amused twinkle in her eyes. She sat on the vanity, various products spread on the desk infront of her as she began to dab some cream onto her face. She looked radiant as ever, half-dried hair pulled back with a thick towel bandana, shoulders draped in silky pink pajamas.

"Moisturising?" Rose repeated. She turned to Shane. "Do you atleast wear sunscreen?"
