Summary
Peter should have known that something was wrong when he found a place he could afford.
He should have also known that something was off the second she said the price - not in a dramatic, gut-punch, spider-sense kind of way - no alarms blaring in his head, no prickling at the back of his neck - but in a quieter, more I’m-getting-scammed-somehow way. The kind that came from years of stretching rent money, from scrolling listings at two in the morning and doing depressing math in his head.
New York didn’t do “cheap.” Not like this, at least, and definitely not without a catch.
Still, he followed the real estate agent inside.

Summary
Harley had absolutely no fucking idea how expensive life actually was.
Sure, he’d always heard adults complain about bills. Rent. Electricity. Heating. Whatever else grown-ups paid for. But it had always been background noise. Like people whining about Mondays or traffic.
Something adults just… did.
But now he was sitting on his bed staring at his bank account and realizing adults had not been exaggerating.
Once everything got paid, there was basically nothing left.Bookmarked by Broclii

Summary
Peter is informed a new kid is joining his intern-work at Stark Labs. With his usual catastrophes, a looming Gala-Expo, and a new prick who's trying to act like he and Tony are somehow best-friends, Peter has to keep his sanity in tact.
***
It was a long night.A guy gave him a nasty shiner, a ring of purple around his eye that’s faded with sleep, but aches with any touch or movement. Peter sighs, having a sip of his coffee, paperboard warming his hands, a portable hearth he passes back and forth. Backpack slung over his shoulders, he makes his way to Stark Industries—after debate club, he tries to squeeze in a few hours here before patrolling into the early hours of the morning. He offered to quit the club to use those hours here, but Tony insisted.
His nose wrinkles. Cigarette stenches the air near the building’s entrance, and he scans the awning, narrowing his eyes when he sees some guy propped up against the front of the building, cigarette wedged in his fingers.
They meet eyes. Peter’s eyes dart to the visitor’s sticker on the guy’s distressed Thrasher shirt, the name in messy scrawl: Harley Keener.
Shit.

Summary
May Parker didn’t “get to know people”. She studied them, the way a meteorologist studies weather patterns, the way a cardiologist measures the rhythm of an uneven heartbeat — with an eye out for change. May was…and she called herself this with a blush of embarrassment, blaming her anxiety…a “noticer”.
Harley Keener didn't get to know people either, just plain and simple. Tony Stark had been an accident and Peter Parker was an open book — beyond them, Harley was totally lost. (To be fair, growing up homeschooled in the middle of nowhere doesn't set you up well socially, not even if a billionaire swoops in after a while and moves you to New York City to finish high school.) Harley was...and he called himself this loudly and often...an "antisocial weirdo".

Summary
Peter’s heart rate picks up only slightly, immediately getting up to get dressed. “Yeah, yeah, of course— are you, okay? Where are you?”
“Yancy street.” Is all Harley says in reply.
“Are you okay?” Peter pushes, still in the middle of scrambling to get his suit on.
Harley is quiet for a moment longer, the sound of cars returning once again. “…would I be calling you if I was?”
——
Or, Peter gets a call late at night, and he gets one step closer to bringing his family together.
