The words tumbled out in a rushed, desperate sort of way. And, oh, that got his attention. He stopped trying to crowd her, and she watched some of his anger evaporate, brows pulling together as confusion took its place.
For a moment, the only sound in the room was their combined breathing.

Defeated but not killed at the Battle of Hogwarts, Voldemort's Second Wizarding war dragged on for an agonising three years. Though a great sacrifice was made to end it, his destruction marked what should have been the return of peace.
