Still, it's 2017, he and Ilya get to move in together, and he starts to build a stronger foundation with the Boston Raiders than he ever had with Montreal. Also the GM's name is Bryce Fury, which really is the name of someone who would do this.

Years later, he gets a call up from the Ottawa Centaurs to play when several of their players are sick. It's his only chance to get back to where he wanted to be. It also means playing with Ilya Rozanov. After years apart, they are still drawn to each other.

The chips are set to fall by icopythefax. Ilya wants to create conditions in which he and Shane could be out together. His plan involves using his freakishly good gaydar to get as many closeted NHL players as possible to bet that if they win the Stanley Cup, they will come out. Scott Hunter is the first. To continue the legacy, Ilya builds up an army of queer hockey players, and a second one of allies, to make the NHL a more accepting place. This is way less cracky than is sounds, and has great characterization of Ilya as a chaotic menace, but as an introspective one who feels deeply.

Based on a real data breach and sports betting incident, this story goes into the backroom maneuvering and public perception management that would happen if Shane and Ilya's conversations were suddenly accessible to the league. They have to defend their relationship from higher-ups, and struggle to manage the media. Incredible work, and a ton of research was done to make the story immersive. Epistolary.

The words hit Ilya like a punch to the gut. For a moment, he forgot how to breathe.

The idea of spending a year living with a man that Ilya is sure hates him is completely terrifying. And yet, it ends up being the best thing to ever happen to him.

(OR: Instead of dying after the Battle of Olympus, Luke gets transported into an alternate universe where he died in his quest at the Garden of Hesperides. Unfortunately for him, not only does he have to deal with being hunted down by this universe's Hermes, but also the fact that apparently soulmates exist here — and he has the soulmark of Apollo, the Sun God.)

He soon finds that he is in a different reality - one in which the Mist was never created, and he died in the Garden of the Hesperides. Hermes is hunting whoever desecrated the grave of his favorite child, and Thalia, Annabeth, and Travis see a video of Luke being a Big Damn Hero in Sacramento. Love stories with no Mist and this is a good one.
