Mike shut his eyes and leaned closer, his red lips puckered like a tiny fish. He leaned closer and closer, until Will could smell the strawberry lipstick and the chocolate on his tongue. He grabbed Will’s shoulder with his hand, steadying himself as he leaned impossibly closer.
Mike’s eyes were squinched shut, his head tilted just a little bit so his dark curls brushed against Will’s forehead, and—

He pressed a quick, loud kiss right onto Will’s cheek.

Mike blinked at him. Mike felt like he was near tears, his head going to explode with all the emotion and pain he was feeling.
“Do you know what I thought about when I saw the demo launched at you?” he asked, pulling Mike closer to him, “I remembered our first day at the kindergarten. And– and how we played DnD for the first time. And when my mom told me for the first time my drawings are good. And me and Jon, when we built Castle Byers together,” Will swallowed, his eyes filling with tears, “I thought about all of those happy memories of mine, more than half of them included you, Mike. My whole life– it’s built around you. I don’t think I can remember a time before you Mike. And don’t you dare think that I would be able to live without you if something happened to you. I swear to god if vecna comes for you one more time, I will hunt him down myself and kill him with my bare hands,”
