He was going to prove Kacchan and his bullies and his teachers and even his mother wrong. He was going to be like All Might and save people with a smile.

So when he wakes up in a hospital bed three years later, handcuffed to the bed railing and accused of being a villain, he’s more than a little confused.

Aizawa Shouta was tired.
Crouched on the edge of the roof as he was, he observed the streets below him silently. He was coming to the end of his patrol, and if everything remained as it was, he'd be able to catch a decent nap before having to report in to the school for another round of proctoring.
Which, of course, is when he saw the kid being chased down the alley.

Summary
Izuku was born with a rare type of soulmate: parental. After being diagnosed quirkless, his father leaves and his mother becomes distant, leading Izuku to believe his third parent would do the same. Desperate to retain a positive relationship with his soul-parent, he keeps them at arm's length for fear of them rejecting him too.
Shouta is worried about his soul-child. Over the last few years they've become withdrawn. Shouta isn't naïve, he knows why children get parental soul bonds. He just wants to make sure they're okay (and maybe meet them and maybe adopt them). Maybe he is just as much of a dad as his friends say.
