“What’s your name?” he asked while organizing my things with suspicious competence.
I scoffed.
“Seraphin.”
He paused just slightly.
“Is that—”
“Chosen,” I cut in immediately. “Obviously. I don’t think my parents are creative enough to come up with anything that sounds like it belongs to me.”
I leaned back on my hands.
“It fits me better anyway.”
A beat.
“…What’s yours?”
He glanced over his shoulder.
“Vincent.”
