Summary
This is a repost of Chapter 9: A Glitch in time from my story Why Should Death Be Any Different? In it, I use a Zalgo font for Antisepticeye's dialogue as that type of font is canonically associated with him. However, I use text-to-speech to find errors in grammar, redundancy, etc. when proofreading and immediately noticed that it spelled out every letter of the Zalgo individually! I initially tried to use ARIA tags inside the story to hide the plain text from sighted readers but make it visible to screen readers while making the Zalgo invisible to screen readers. But it turns out AO3 strips out any custom HTML outside the basic formatting stuff. That's totally understandable and I knew it was a bit of a long shot, but I had to try!
