    Summary

Keiji got the The Email at 5:00 PM, at the end of business day, right on the dot.

He was assembling furniture in what would be his home office, a full room of their sizable 3DK condominium graciously conceded to him by Bokuto to lure him from working overtime in a job he was yet to secure, when his phone vibrated.

Thank you for your interest in joining the team at the Yuzu literary journal. Unfortunately—

    He thought about calling Bokuto.

(In which Akaashi experiences some twenties growing pains and momentarily forgets that Bokuto loves him unconditionally.)

    Bookmarker's Notes

This feels so perfect. I love how inadequate Akaashi feels, as if he's falling behind. However, it is clear that he is not. He as a first year manages to gain a covered position editorial staff at his university's journal (1 of 2) and he stresses about his writing. He overthinks constantly. He's insecure. He can't recognize his own greatness (but luckily, he has someone there to help him see it). But, God, is he in love, and loved right back. Bokuto isn't stupid in this, which I really appreciate. He gives simple answers and solutions and support, always being the stable foundation that Akaashi has come to rely on. I love that Bokuto cares so deeply and obviously and shamelessly. He doesn't fall asleep cause he knew Akaashi would call him. He's considerate, he's loving, and he's intelligent in the ways of Akaashi

    Summary

“So. You sure do know a lot about plants, huh?”

It’s quite possibly the stupidest thing to come out of his mouth, and he doesn’t need Akaashi’s little huffed laugh to tell him that. His cheeks are flushing red before Akaashi even gets done saying, “I should hope so, considering I own a flower shop.”

“I — well, yeah. I meant that you know a lot about their meanings and stuff,” Bokuto amends. “I knew that roses were for love, but I didn’t really think about other flowers having deep meanings.”

“You’d be surprised how much you can communicate with flowers alone,” Akaashi says. “It’s helpful for when you can’t find the right words yourself. Might as well let nature take a stab at it.”

(or, Akaashi owns a flower shop and Bokuto is his most loyal customer)

    Summary

Akaashi Keiji knows his relationship with Bokuto Koutarou has an expiration date. It was inevitable. Even the best things must end. Especially with Bokuto's dreams of volleyball stardom on the line, they don't have any other choice. Akaashi has made his peace with that.

    Bokuto has other ideas.

    Summary

After all, it’s at least partly his fault Itadori is here in the first place. It wouldn’t do well to be - cold, to him, on top of that. It would be the right thing, the more moral thing to do, maybe. To keep him at arms length to make sure that his miscalculations wouldn’t hurt Itadori again, wouldn’t put him in danger. Megumi doesn’t want to lull him into any false sense of security that the world of Jujutsu is fun and welcoming and about saving the world, because it isn’t. But...

He’s clearly making an effort to be friends. Megumi isn’t - he isn’t a cruel person. Not to those that don’t deserve it, and he isn’t a robot either, despite the jokes his classmates make. Itadori doesn’t deserve it.

With a sense of finality, he thinks: Tsumiki wouldn’t like it if he were unkind to Itadori, when Itadori was being kind to him. And that settles it.

    ---

Megumi falls in love bit by bit, inch by inch, the way the sole on your favourite pair of shoes wears in over time, or how the sun travels across the sky.

    Summary

The first time he sees it, he chases the color across campus, eyes settling on the person it belongs to. A color he thinks he’s imagined, a glimpse of pastel tufts against lush green grass, not yet browned by autumn.

The moment lasts only seconds. A boy laughing in a large group of friends, haloed by sunlight and smiling faces. He might as well be an ocean away.

    Megumi continues on.
