Summary
It's 1120, and Yusuf and Nicolò are living in Bukhara, having gone into business together copying books. Everything would be perfect, if only Nicolò could get himself to stop pining over Yusuf. But then Nathaniel ibn Isaac, a Jewish physician from Córdoba, comes to them seeking someone to help him complete a manual for an astrolabe plate he's invented. Nicolò enjoys the job, until someone starts making attempts on Nathaniel's life. Now his life, Yusuf and Nicolò's secret, and their corner of the scholarly community in Bukhara are at risk until they can find the would-be killer.

Summary
Five times over the years that Ilya forgot an English word ... and one time Shane did.
"I'm marrying you in a month no matter what."
Ilya pets Shane's cheek, his eyebrows furrowed. Shane knows the expression well; it's the one that slips over his face when he's working overtime to translate his thoughts.
This is as good a test for himself as any. "Do you wanna say it in Russian?" he offers.
Ilya smiles, a little wider this time.
"I'll catch you if you call me a lawnmower," Shane warns. "Or a fucking worm. Or whatever."
"Ahhh. You know my tricks."
Adoration blooms within Shane, so suddenly and plentifully he has to kiss the overflow into Ilya's mouth. "Most of them, I think."

Nicky rolled down the end of the mehendi tube and got to work. Several minutes passed in silence - it was like meditation, Nicky thought. He could get lost in this, the warm gold of the mehendi tube in his hand, Joe’s pulse beneath his fingertips as Nicky held his palm down, the cooling trail of paste the tip left behind as it scraped against Joe’s skin.
“Amore?” Joe asked.
“Mhm?”
“This isn’t a design request per se, but you’re going to do the thing, right?”
