Summary
He lifts his head up. He’s not supposed to— he knows that— but he does it anyway. The statue of his god has a chiseled jaw and a prominent, tall nose. He is beautiful in ways that the human is not. That he likely could not ever be.
Jungwon envies him, but he remains with his head lifted, spine still pressed low. It aches and burns in places he’s never felt such excruciating pain, but he wants to be seen as he asks this of his god. To, at the very least, say this voice that pleads is mine, no one else’s.
“And please bless me…with a torch to illuminate this unfamiliar road. Light to guide me. Fire to warm me. A sign or a symbol of your blessing, so that I know the fate that lies ahead of me is one you have so benevolently bestowed, just like your presence.”
The bells at the entryway of the temple jingle— and this time, it sounds like a laugh.

Summary
Jay is a single dad, busy with his career. Not wanting to leave his seven year old daughter by her lonesome all too often, he's looking for a residential caretaker.
Jungwon is a struggling student. He hates his dorm, how he has to share a kitchen and use the communal showers and bathrooms. He spends most of his time working, but flipping burgers all night isn't ideal.
That's when he stumbles upon an ad for a babysitting job. Living costs are included, it's close to the university and the only deal is to take care of a seven year old. As a prospective teacher, what else could he ask for?

And at that moment, Riki is reminded why he's so badly in love with his best friend. It's in moment like this when Sunghoon can remember a promise years old that even Riki has forgotten, when Sunghoon is too observant that he knew even the smallest thing like how Riki ties his shoelaces weirdly so it won't loosen when he dances, when Sunghoon would do the smallest of things like putting a cup sleeves on his drink so Riki won't get burn. Simple ways of caring but Riki can see it loudly.

The boy blinks his confusion away before he quirks his mouth up in a half smile, his eyes shining with mirth.
“I don’t know you,” he says with certainty. “But I’ve missed you too, I guess.”
Jungwon is one of the few people who can remember their past lives, and Jongseong has been in too many of his. That doesn't make saying I love you any easier, though. If anything, it only makes it harder.
