A small laugh, “You would not have done all that." he smiled despite himself.
“Are ya kiddin?” he looked almost offended. “I’mma genu-ine sheriff! I'd do whatever I gotta do t’ bring ya home! It’s the job!” He couldn’t help the smile that crawled up his own face, mirroring the ballerina’s. It was a nice one. Even if he was missing a tooth.
“What’s up with that?” he tilted his head, mirroring him back. “Like… you’re a real one?”
“O’course I am!” he dusted himself off, tipping his hat. “As real as you are a real… uh… bal-er-ay-na?” he guessed.

With one door stuck shut, another one may have unexpectedly opened; all they had to do now was survive Ash Ketchum. That couldn’t be that hard, right?
