Summary

Summary
A broken, disillusioned Steve Rogers is afflicted by a delusion that the mysterious assassin who nearly killed him is actually his best friend, who died 70 years ago. On a surface level, it still deeply repulses him. The heavy tang of metal in his mouth, viscous and congealed as it sticks to his gums, seeps between his teeth.
Like this, however, he hardly even notices. Blood becomes a different kind of trivial necessity, something which he himself no longer has, and thus, simply has to get from somewhere else.
