Summary
The person snaps their jaw underneath him, still lunging for his throat. They writhe and hiss, but their movements are fumbled, broken bones getting in the way. The ribcage underneath him creaks when he kneels on it. Jason repositions so he can put pressure on the leg. He feels the tibia and the fibula crack beneath him. The thing doesn’t react.
He puts his knife into their stomach and rolls off, letting them stand so he can survey the damage. The thing is still thrashing around, stumbling as they try to pick themself up. Their broken leg crumples beneath them, crashing them down with a shriek. They put their weight on the other side.
The lightning flashes as they rise. There, in front of him, is the vision Jason came for; Robin, broken, bloodied, cut open and littered with holes.
The image is wrong.
He doesn’t see desperation in Robin’s eyes. None of the fear or pleading or regret he wanted. He just sees hunger.
This isn’t how it was supposed to go.Jason goes to the Tower for Robin. He wasn't supposed to find a starving, rabid vampire. The thing is, the Bats don't know Robin's a vampire - and he gets out, still starving, right into the Alley.
