“Enough about me,” Xichen says after several minutes of talking about his younger brother. “What about your brothers?”
So she tells him about her brothers. It’s oddly cathartic to just talk to someone. It’s not venting, per se. Yanli adores her little brothers, trouble and all. If she had her way, they’d spend their lives together, the three of them. Still, she feels she’s unloading something, a weight she hadn’t realized she was carrying.
Sometimes eldest siblings just need to vent. And eat cookie dough.
