“You’re our mom and dad,” Dustin blurted out. Everyone stopped talking, looking over to Dustin, confused as to who he was talking to. “What?” Nancy asked.
“Steve and Eddie,” he said, looking over to the two. They both looked caught out, exchanging glances. “They’re, like, our mom and dad.”
“Wait, what?” Lucas asked. “We all have moms and dads, Dustin. For the most part.”
“Yeah, I know, man, but like, in our group dynamic. Steve is our mom and Eddie is our dad.”
“What? No,” Steve said, shaking his head, grinning, as if this was a ridiculous observation. Okay, it wasn’t, like, the least ridiculous thought ever, but it wasn’t that out of left field.
“Why is Steve the mom and not me?” Nancy asked. “Yeah, or me? Not that I’m complaining,” Robin posited.
