Summary
Tamar thought she would die as she had been born, along the banks of the mighty river Cush. Lindir never pretended he had outrun the memories of a childhood of torment and servitude, but he had thought he had learned to live with them. But that was before Erestor embarked on a reckless and wholly unselfish journey to bring the Mortal woman south, and lost a fight with one of the giant spiders of Mirkwood on the way. Summary
Caught in an ambush by a band of orcs a young ranger named Raihnon and his entire patrol are taken prisoner. Instead of killing them the orc captain, Shaka the Slave Taker, puts them to work. If one of them disobeys the captain, or tries to run, he will torture one of their brothers in arms instead of killing them. And the orc captain has his eye squarely on Raihnon.
