Summary
The gate is closing.
Dustin lands on the floor of the real-world Munson trailer, managing not to injure anything else this time, but he hardly notices as he sees the rift that has also split the world on this side begin mending itself. The roof and side of the trailer reform, sealing together as the vines and the very crack itself disappears. Looking back up, all Dustin can do is watch as the opening grows smaller and smaller.
"Steve!" he calls, helpless. "No, no, no, no!"
"It's okay!" Steve shouts back to him, even though Dustin knows that it isn't. "We'll find another way out! Get to Nancy and Robin!"
And the vines retreat into the ceiling as the gate seals itself, slicing the last of the hanging sheet in half and leaving almost no trace that a giant portal to another world was ever there at all.
*Or, Steve goes back for Dustin after everything and gets trapped in the Upside Down, alone with Eddie. But that is only the beginning.
This story is from Robin, Dustin, Steve, and Eddie's POVs, as they all deal with what happens now.

“So we’re into dudes now?”
Eddie tries not to let the amusement show on his face as he watches this weird version of Buck size him up. It’s reminiscent of their first meeting. Buck had acted like a complete idiot (he’d thought it was because he was threatened, but years later Buck will now finally admit it was because he wanted to fuck Eddie so bad it made him stupid). He’s got that same bratty look and attitude now.
“We’ve always been into guys, you just haven’t realized it yet.” Buck (3.0? Or is it 4.0 now?) says. Eddie’s not sure what model they’ve upgraded to at this point, but that doesn’t matter. His Buck, current-Buck, husband-Buck is speaking.
“Are you gay?” 1.0—that’s what Eddie’s taken to calling him in his mind—asks, a disgruntled look on his face. He’s actually quite cute. Smaller and leaner than the Buck Eddie first met when he started at the 118, he kind of reminds Eddie of a puppy. “Because I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this,” he waggles his eyebrows obnoxiously. “I really like women.”
“Bi.” Buck (husband-Buck) corrects, he’s got his arms crossed over his chest, defensive.

Eddie isn’t sure what or who he expects to find on the other side of his door at 6:30 on a Tuesday morning in early January. Buck, the only person typically at his door at random hours, crashed on the couch the night before and is currently in his kitchen making French Toast and bacon for Christopher, even though, technically, they needed to have left five minutes ago if they wanted to arrive at the station comfortably on time and not in a rush. So no, Eddie, isn’t sure who he expects to find at his doorstep. Maybe his Tia Pepa, coming to spend the morning with Christopher, the Great Nephew she had missed so desperately those long months he spent in El Paso. Maybe Tia Pepa.
