A Masterpiece.
There are so many feelings that simmer in my heart. They rise to my temples and rest in my palms. I think there will never be enough words to explain what I feel when I read and remember this story.
Not every book has an ending, but when it does, a certain sadness overcomes me. Why? Why so sad? Shouldn’t I be happy? Could it be that I want a continuation of the story? A story, though? No, it doesn’t feel like a story, but a life that I witnessed. And the feeling of an ending makes me believe that it dies.
Even though the story had a happy ending, and the heroes reached their goals, grew old, and rested in peace without regret, my egotistical side wants it to never end, even though, in that way, it could erase itself and become something it is not anymore. Part of me wants that. But another part of me understands that this story deserves an end.
With time, the feeling will grow numb, and the sadness will turn into melancholy. The memories of this story will come from time to time, and many “what ifs” will arise, but those will be only stray thoughts, nothing more. And when the reminiscence becomes dull and bleak, I shall read it anew.Thank you. This was an experience that I will salvage and preserve.
