In which Griffin does a bunch of shit slice-of-life style, improves his relationship with Robin, worsens his relationship with his dad and eventually scores his dear friend Anthony. He does all of this whilst juggling graduate school and a part-time job because he's my multi-tasking queen. (Instead of languages, Richard Lovell does neurosurgery and forces his sons to as well lol.)

    Summary

His eyes followed the slope of the light before being pulled down magnetically, gravitationally, to the figure beside him.

Ramy slept on his stomach with his arms folded beneath his pillow. His shoulders moved like waves rocking against the shore. He was breathing. He was alive. Robin’s chest tightened in that aching way that only love could induce. Suddenly he felt like a puppet severed from its strings from the weight of relief.

    It was just a dream.

    -

Or, Robin wakes from a terrible nightmare and Ramy is there to comfort him.

    Summary

“Ilya,” Hollander breathes, which—Ilya isn’t sure Hollander has ever called him by his first name. Surely he has sometime in seven years of acquaintance? But the sound of it is novel, unfamiliar.

    And far from unpleasant.

Then Hollander says, “Baby,” and Ilya knows for certain that he’s never called Ilya that, because it takes the air right out of Ilya’s lungs and makes his guts twist and fuck, he would have remembered if Hollander had ever called him that. Especially in that reverent tone.

    It’s nice.

Ilya doesn't remember being married to Shane Hollander. Probably, he should tell someone.

    He decides not to.

    Summary

The Japanese language only has two verb tenses; past and present. If one is gone and you can't seem to place yourself in the other, how do you move into a future without the dream that always led you? Shane Hollander has lost hockey; the ability to play and the access to his memories, nine years of accomplishments documented in stark contrast that he cannot seem to see past and find who he was.

Right now, he finds himself on a guided hiking trip everyone claimed would be a good idea, if only a goal to focus his rehab on. Shane doesn't believe he will find himself somewhere in the Canadian wilderness, but the outrageously flirty, forward Russian guide that keeps him upright through every stumble is at least a welcome distraction from the emptiness looming ahead. One foot in front of the other, one step at a time. Sometimes, we don't actually need a direction to start moving.

or; Shane has lost hockey and his memories. Ilya is a hiking guide and more than happy to help him explore… the Canadian wilderness
