“Does this story have a point?” Eddie questioned, Lena narrowing her eyes at him.
“This guy, my sort of friend—what if he could watch Chris for you?”
Eddie furrowed his brows together. “You want me to leave my kid who’s halfway across the country with some—stranger?”
“It beats having him sent home to your parents, right?”
Well, she had a point there.
Eddie shook his head, overwhelmed with his thoughts.
“Look, I appreciate it Bosko, but I just—I don’t know. This is my kid we’re talking about.”
“I know that, and I know how much you love him. Hell, you’ve sent me ten plus emails when I was watching him for you.”
Eddie looked to where there was a line coming out of their commanders office. He turned to Lena, giving his full attention.
“Alright, tell me about this friend of yours.”

The one where Eddie’s in the army, Shannon gives up her rights to Chris, and Eddie needs a babysitter. Good thing Lena knows Buck, the guy having nothing better to do than help babysit until Eddie gets back. Eddie would come home, and he would leave; it wasn’t like they were going to build some lifetime friendship or anything.

Eddie huffed out a breath. “I’m having a crisis.”
And Bobby, he wasn’t proud of it, but the word ‘finally’ was flashing in front of his eyes in giant, neon yellow letters, because surely, surely this meant that he’d figured it out. Finally, at long last, Eddie was having the crisis they’d all been waiting for since he’d started a thousand emergencies earlier.Bobby waited, silent and hopeful, relieved that they’d finally gotten there.
“I think I’m homophobic.”
Bobby blinked at him.
“I’m sorry?”

Helena is already grabbing Christopher’s coat. “Come on, sweetheart. You’re coming home with us for a little while.”
Christopher frowns, blinking blearily up at her. “Nana? Wha-” He sits up taller, eyes darting between each of the adults in the room. “I’m not leaving my dad.”
“He’ll be okay, you’ll see him once he’s better.” Helena reassures, reaching down to squeeze his shoulder.
“Oh yes, I’m sure he’ll be fine waking up to find that you’ve taken his son to another state after almost dying. How could you both be so selfish?”
Chris is starting to look upset now, his lower lip trembling as he looks down at his father. “I don’t want to go to Texas.” he whispers, his hand resting on Eddie’s leg. Bobby’s heart pangs, and he’s about to finally speak up when another voice cuts into the tension of the room-
“You’re not going anywhere, Chris.”

Summary

He takes the boy in, just like his father did to him, and cares for him. But, when Christophers father finally comes into the picture, how will things change?
