He said gravely, “One of those degenerate ogres believes they are worthy enough to bear a child for you,” and Takumi felt a stirring of deep-seeded panic. He was too young for this; not like this. He thought of Nozomi, so lovely and ready; not like this. She would be very compliant and gentle; not like this.
    Takumi had already tainted her, his final reward, by allowing her memory to be warped and programmed into obedience. He wouldn’t have a child with her.
    Eito grabbed his arm and tapped him, one, two, three. Takumi looked at him. Eito smiled at him, his eyes glinting. “I will not let anyone defile your sweet scent with their rot. I will protect you, Takumi.”
    Takumi wondered if there was a challenge within Eito’s love.
