Summary

naoakira takes the last step down and rounds the corner to see yohei, back to the stairs and fingertips tracing lines on the night-black top of the piano. the vase that once held camellia blossoms sits empty on the piano’s folded music stand, withered floral remains finally laid to rest.
he inhales. the fingers of worry that still grip him wrench the words from his throat.
“yohei. is there something wrong?”
yohei raises his head.
yohei blows into bar 4/7 late with the abruptness of a summer storm, and naoakira knows something's not right- especially when he says 'thank you' with the same tone as 'goodbye'.
