The two of them leave without yelling at each other only because it’d be rude to (openly) fight in a packed waiting room. This doesn’t mean that their wait is civil, though.

Basic overview is that Robert ended up making the society without Henry in his honor, and Hyde joins; partially to practice science, to help Lanyon stay sane, and because of the lingering sentimentality he has. (I mean, Lanyon literally made his dream a reality.)
