    Or, Shane gets rightfully fed up after the first month of Hayden's behavior towards Ilya. Punching Ilya was the final straw, so he tells Hayden to pretend he never found out. It sets off a chain of events landing him, happily, in Ottawa a year earlier and with a better support system for both him and Ilya.

Ilya is frequently praised for his aggressive play style, tearing out onto the ice like a rabid animal and winning through brute force. He’s a loose cannon out on the rink, that’s why Boston loves him so much. Shane’s image in the media is much different. He doesn’t fight, he doesn’t speak badly about other teams, he’s calm and calculated. Ilya is not.
