Lucy followed the Ghoul out of that shell-struck old observatory and through the ruins of things lost so many times over by this point it was a miracle anyone was around who could still put a name to them. Idly, she figured, he might be the only one left around here who could.
So maybe that was why she had thrown her lot in with his without much thought about it. Or maybe it was because she figured he, at least, would be upfront with her if he ever decided to throw her to the wolves. Or maybe, for the briefest of seconds, she had looked at him and thought, wildly, impossibly, that they might be on the same page. Or in the same boat, rather, one without any oars, and which was pitching dangerously.
Or maybe it was something else. Something lesser known. Something like fate, like a little whisper spoken so quietly she didn’t even know she had heard it. But she was listening, now, and the best thing she could do, she figured, was see this through to the end.
The Ghoul walked ahead, having similar internal dilemmas unbeknownst, albeit with significantly more swearing.

Summary
Drakken felt an instinctual panic and forced himself to his knees, blinking rapidly to try to get his eyes to focus. When they finally did he saw the alien standing right next to Shego holding a device that appeared to be meant to give injections.
"As I was saying, it is due to this False One that our greatest warrior was defeated."
"Wait, uh, I think someone told you a different story," Ron said, creeping out from his hiding place. "It was Drakken and I who have the cool super powers, we're the ones who defeated you. You kidnapped the...uh...the wrong person," he finished warily and dashed back to the far wall, where Kim was standing up again.
"No. It is only this one who has the power to defeat our technology. Her power can only be given by the Great Blue. But she uses it against us. She is one of the False Ones and you will witness as she is destroyed!"

Shego recoiled in shock, scooting back to the edge of the moat. When she realized she wasn't being fired on, she looked up past the gun to its owner. Drakken had both hands on the weapon and was pointing it calmly at her chest, his face void of expression.
Her breaths, which had been quick and shallow, began to slow as realization struck.
"You're... You're really...going to kill me. Aren't you, Dr. D."
He didn't even flinch.
