As Slingshot opened the door to his room, he was met with a familiar, duo-colored demon with that all-knowing, cocky smirk.
Coil stood in front of his room, spinning around the key to his apartment with his index finger. "Sup, kitty. Heard you were sick?" He asked, tilting his head plainly.
The cafe owner stood there in disbelief, his eyes zeroing in the keys Coil had in his hands.
One, how did Coil get his keys,
Two, there is no way in hell was Slingshot going to be taken care by him out of all demons.
"Get out."

Taking a large bite, Skateboard chewed with happiness. "You always have the best dessert in all of Crossroads, Sling!" He mumbled through the pieces of cake, taking a few seconds to swallow. "It never disappoints, dude." The skater smiled.
Meanwhile, Coil was still inspecting it. "It's not poisoned." Slingshot assured him. "I know." He answered plainly, taking a bite.
Wow, alright. Slingshot shook his head, staring at the other for his reaction and expecting the him to light up with how delicious the treat was—
Coil took a few moments to chew, before shrugging. "It's okay." The cafe owner froze.

Summary
In another universe, maybe things would be different. They'll laugh. Exchange numbers. Maybe go on a cafe date later on.
But reality was harsh, and glimpses of what could've been were immediately shattered.
The inphernal who bumped into Slingshot gave a nasty glare. “Watch where you're going, fuckin’ bitch.”
“I– why, you-!” Slingshot spluttered, stumbling over his words in shock.
To top it all off, they merely rolled their eyes, before walking away like nothing ever happened.
Slingshot felt his blood boil.
“Asshole!” Slingshot called out as he got up. “I hope you trip in a fucking gutter!”
Or, Slingshot goes about one of the worst ways to meet your crush.

“I dunno, his reactions are cute?” He settled on, shrugging as if he hadn’t said something incriminating. Boombox had only coughed, turning up the volume of the song still playing from his gear as Skateboard had hummed in response, something uncharacteristically nervous from the two.
And as the inphernals continued to walk within the night, the chatter of the city filling what would be an awkward silence, Boombox and Skateboard shared a thought.
