Hi, Lan Zhan. So, can I ask you a hypothetical question?
Lan Wangji stares at Wei Wuxian's text for a good minute. They haven't exchanged more than a word in about a month and it's technically past his usual bedtime. He decides that Wei Wuxian is either going to ask a question, that isn't hypothetical in the slightest or he's gotten tipsy and wants to chat.
What would you do if you were infected by a Consciousness Absorber?
Is the question actually hypothetical?
Wei Ying. Please tell me you're lying awake at night thinking of scenarios and are not actually affected by a creature that gradually takes control of your free will and uses that to turn you into a murdering monster.
Wei Wuxian is possessed by a terrifying creature. He texts Lan Wangji for help.

Wei Ying peers up at him through dark eyelashes. Huddled in his oversized hoodie, he looks rather like a lost puppy. A nasty bloodsucking puppy, Lan Zhan reminds himself.
“I need help,” Wei Ying says. “I need somebody to explain all this shit to me because all I’ve got to go on are a bunch of B-movies. So you, Van Helsing, are the best option I’ve got.”
Protecting the city from supernatural menaces is a burden, but field agent Lan Zhan has always borne that burden without complaint. Then one night, he meets Wei Ying, a vampire in need of rescue. A very pretty, very pathetic vampire. Lan Zhan will mentor this ridiculous vampire, but he is absolutely going to complain about it.

Every time Wei Wuxian smiled at him, Lan Wangji would immediately look away as if the sight alone repulsed him.
Every time Wei Wuxian tried to talk to him, Lan Wangji would mostly not react as if he was merely tolerating his presence.
The only times Lan Wangji actually replied to him were to tell him how “ridiculous“ or “shameless“ or “pathetic“ he was.
Wei Wuxian would only laugh because he knew that it was true. He was pathetic for being so desperate for any form of contact with Lan Wangji.
