Summary
Carmen thinks Sydney is the kind of angel in renaissance paintings that he grew up looking at. Paintings that he would look at and feel a sereneness wash over him. Looking at art was meditative in that way, for him. When his mother was having an intense outburst, when Mikey was yelling just as loudly back, he would focus on the photos of saints, of angels. A silent prayer that they could grant him some sort of peace. Please help me still this chaos. I constantly feel like I'm about to break. Please, I need it all to not be so much. Please.
He knows he needs to bottle this moment, meeting her. He needs to save it, and store it deep within his heart so he won't forget it. His first angel sighting. He'll treat it tenderly, it's a fragile thing he needs to protect. It seems too good to be true so he'll make sure to check on it often, make sure it's real.
