“Already? We can’t stay for a little longer?” Misty pouts. “You know I’ve never been to a dance before, and you know this is probably my only chance to if we really are gonna die out here.”
“Misty part of the school dance experience is ditching early to go do something way better. People show up to these things just so they can leave,” Natalie insists, “I’m giving you the full package here.”
“What would even be ditching to do? What is there to do in the woods?” Misty asks, reaching to push her glasses up her face.
Nat laughs, “you’ll see.”

“Are you sure it’s not yours or mine?” Natalie asks, not sure she herself would know if something was Van’s or not, even after all this time.
Her roommate snorts and holds up the bright pink sweater with an amused smile, then turns it around to show Nat the front of it, where three embroidered cats sit. “Well, you can speak for yourself, but does this look like something I’d wear?”
Natalie recognizes it immediately. The cute girl that’s always in the laundry room, the one with the curly blonde hair and glasses, that always lights up when she sees her. Misty.
