“Look, I’m just asking, okay? Not– I don't mean anything by it. But, uh.” His eyes darted back and forth, then he leaned in close to Steve. Steve had gotten used to that, kind of. The guy had no concept of personal space. “Are you flagging?” Eddie finally finished.
Steve shook his head slowly, eyes narrowed. He had no idea what that meant. He had no answer. “What?”
Eddie leaned away from Steve, facing forward again and nodding. “Okay, got it. That answers my question. Carry on.”

Summary
Tommy and Steve make each other friendship bracelets when they are young and they make a promise to never take them off. Steve doesn't until Starcourt.

“Nope” Steve pops the p as he leans forward and drags the bracelet around Tommy’s wrist leaving it loose enough Tommy could slide it off if he wanted as he ties the knot. “The box said they’re best friend bracelets and you’re my best friend.”
“Carol kept hers.” Tommy points out but he grabs Steve’s hand before he can pull away wrapping the one he made for Steve just as loosely, the colors almost match except there are a few strands of purple weaved through Steve’s because Tommy knows he likes purple. “You’re my best friend too.” Tommy tells him, grinning a little nervous. His bracelet is not as tightly woven or as neat as the one Steve tied around his wrist.
“It’s so pretty.” Steve gushes and Tommy preens delighted, grin splitting his face wider as Carol comes back in the room. Her own smile fades as she notices the bracelets on their wrists, Tommy's fingers just finishing the knot on Steve's.
