They both reach the gurney at the same time, and Dennis squints while looking at the patient. It’s like he’s getting a sudden feeling of deja vu, because he swore he saw this person before. Maybe he treated this patient before and just forgot his name. That didn’t matter right now though, because they were wheeling him towards trauma room 5.

The praise goes to his head, suffusing him with endorphins. “Thank you, Dad.” And he promptly wants to crawl out of his skin and slither down the drain with the after birth slop.
