There was a note on the bedside table, but my eyes were too bleary with sleep to make sense of it and I was too comfortable to shift any closer or rub them into clarity. She often left notes now, because I had worked up the nerve to ask her to. I had to assume she'd left on some important business and I could not allow myself to let that feel like a betrayal for even a moment. Mossa couldn't have known I'd wake up this way, needing her.
