Dazai and Chuuya have been engaged for just over five months now and Dazai is tired of waiting for a wedding. They've already told their coworkers, they've been fiancés for soooo long now, that really, they should just skip the wedding and go straight to the honeymoon right? And what better way to celebrate their honeymoon then by going on a road trip across the country they fell in love in. And of course, Dazai definetly has no surprises planned because what could possibly go wrong as Soukoku tackles America.

"Chuuya, look, there's a sign for Little Tokyo!"
"No, absolutely not."
"But wouldn't it be fun to see how accurate it is?"
"Dazai, we are soaking wet and I personally am freezing, I am not making a detour in Little Tokyo so we can walk around wet and cold just to see how accurate it is."
There was blissful silence in the car for a few moments, and then-
"Chuuya, is it gay if we're in Japan but Japan is in America?"
"Who cares if it's gay? As long as I'm with you, I'm sure you'll find some way to to turn it gay anyways."

Each December, Dazai disappears off the face of the earth for the last few weeks of the year, leaving the ADA completely baffled as to where he's gone, but who can complain when he returns in a much better mood than he was when he left, and the Agency gets a month of blissful Dazai-free antics?
Or, Soukoku gets stranded in New York one December for a mission, which kickstarts a cheesy Christmas story eight years in the making, all to cumulate in the Christmas of a lifetime.

"I would never lie about something as precious as Christmas!" Dazai insisted, holding a hand over his chest in mock offense that Chuuya would even suggest such a thing. "I mean it with 100% sincerity, Christmas isn't a romantic holiday in America, you can ask anyone in this hotel if you don't believe me, so therefore it makes sense that if we celebrate Christmas here, in America, it won't be a romantic thing."
"That's about as flimsy of an excuse as saying it's not gay as long as you're wearing socks."
"It's not gay if you're wearing socks," Dazai insisted. "And it's not gay to celebrate Christmas in America either."

“Are you real?” Chuuya struggles to form the words around painful bursts of air. Dazai might as well be a hallucination, and Chuuya is merely leaning into the crisp vacancy of his penthouse, just the way it’s been for the past four years. Just the way he’s known it to be, memorized it to be, without the shitty mackerel trespassing. There are two of him, beige coat fluttering, as he moves and doesn’t let go of Chuuya’s writhing form. “Are you—the real—Dazai?”
