Summary
Ragatha was certain they would lose. Jax was cunning, she meant that. Kinger did have his moments of clarity, though as much as she loved him he remained unhelpful. Their opponents had been building a strong comradery these past few weeks. While Ragatha had been pushed away Pomni had been pulled in.
It didn’t bother her really, (it did, it stung. But she couldn’t feel it anyway. She never could.)
As she drifted away, Jax began to torment her relentlessly. Whatever he placed on her pillow this morning just furthered that. He would do things like this. Leaning on her head, touching anything he could reach, shoving her this way and that. His nicknames that made her squirm. Ragatha didn’t trust it, knew she needed to keep her guard up until he revealed his true intentions.
“I know you wanna win.” Jax whispered.
He was right, Ragatha did want to win.

“Say it for real, thems the rules.” Jax shrugged.
“Ugh! You’re so difficult sometimes.” It had no real bite to it, shown easily by the smile that tugged at her lips, “I promise Jax, I’ll wait for you.”
She’d probably regret what just came out of her mouth but it was too late to go back. His body relaxed, a sigh of relief flattened his tense shoulders. Jax reached over toward her and held out a yellow pinkie. Childish, maybe, but if it’d soothe his worries Ragatha was more than happy to indulge. She wrapped her plush index finger around his pinkie, an old thing they used to do. Just like many times before, Ragatha pulled his hand toward her face and pressed a kiss to their interlocked digits.
“Don’t make me wait too long, okay?” She looked at him with half-lidded eyes. Jax’s cheeks bloomed with a bright violet, a sight she hadn’t seen in a while.

Caine adjusted his bowtie, “Folks, today is a happy day–yes! But also a bittersweet one!” The circus residents watched his dramatic monologue begin. Ragatha politely nodded along to his speech. “Today, my eldest daughter, the one who has been with me for ages that I can barely recount how my adventures were without her cheerful encouragement, must grow up! And take the last step of starting her own life!”
Gangle raised her hand to interrupt, “Caine, what are you trying to say–”
“Oh, the sorrow! My lovely, sweet, kind, and eldest daughter will experience the happiest day of her life!” Caine threw his cane into the air, the top half exploding into rose petals that fell on top of the circus members.
“Today, Ragatha gets married!”
TLDR: Ragatha gets married to a NPC. Jax does not like it.
