The Relationship Between Online Readers & Writers by Penguiduck
Fandoms: Original Work, Essays - Fandom, tutorials, Compositions
30 Nov 2020
Tags
Summary
We are a community. There is plenty of room for writers, readers, and everyone in between.
You’re a part of it, regardless of what role you play. You may be a reader, a writer, a reader who occasionally writes when the muse bubbles up, or a writer who occasionally reads when you need a break from the keyboard.
In this composition, I will discuss the relationship between online readers and writers. I would like to provide some perspective from both sides and make proposals for behavioral changes that I think could benefit the community and enrich this special relationship. We as human beings have this desire to feel appreciated, and when we do, we perform as the best versions of ourselves.

Summary
The following tutorial/live example explains how to mimic Sans’, Papyrus’, and the main game’s text on AO3. (I also discuss briefly on how to change the font color, to say yellow, or how to write W.D. Gaster’s text, but because they both have issues attached to them, they’re not automatically included in the main code.)

Just like it says, How To Do The Thing. Applicable to other fandoms that use fonts or colors in plot-relevant ways, assuming you know enough about Getting Browsers To Do The Thing to do more than copy/paste the provided code.

Sources and Research Advice for the 00Q Method Ficcer by notbeloved07

Summary
I am discontinuing writing 00Q, because I'm not really feeling this fandom. However, I am a method ficcer, meaning I put a lot of effort into getting into my characters' heads when I'm writing them, and therefore do a lot of research for ficcing. I think some of what I learned might also be helpful for other writers in 00Q, so I decided to put them all in a post.
Some (but not all) topics covered here are: intercepting mobile calls, getting on secured wifi, lock picking, fighting, explosives, manipulating the the power grid, code injections, biometric security, and where to learn about computer security in general.

There are some great quick-and-dirty guides to HTML on A03. This is not one of them - it is a comprehensive guide
It's now 2025, a decade later. A03 supports some new HTML and and we're all walking around reading fic on supercomputers that fit in a jean pocket. It was time to update.
The previous three chapters have been divided into smaller concepts. Each tag continues to have - at a minimum - a link to the w3schools page about it (so you can learn more), a code example, and the result of the code example. Most tags have their attributes, things like [src] or [title], listed and examples of how using the attributes modify the tags.
There's a chapter on Bad Ideas, including how some of the archive's default CSS is available to you to format your work (users can't turn that off by hiding a workskin!)
Oh. And I added a bunny army. You could learn how to add one too.

Feel free to upload works with great writing advice! It’s kinda hard to find them because they aren’t actual fan fictions, so I thought I’d start a collection for the ones I find.
