It was exhausting and he was getting really fucking sick of it.

    While Butters’ family may not be poor, that didn’t mean that life at home was all fine and dandy for him either. It was like constantly walking on eggshells, being hyper vigilant about every move he made and every word that came out of his mouth. He hated it, but what could he do? Honestly, he could only keep doing his best to stay on his parent’s good side and do what he was told. Anything to avoid negative consequences.

    Neither of them knew what they were doing except whatever they could in order to survive in a world that only ever seemed to be against them. Maybe it was possible that they could eventually learn to survive together.

    Jason had to find him. “Who is he?”

    “He’s known by many names… Veil Walker… Reaper… Half-Pint.”

    Jason sputtered. “Half-Pint??”

    “That’s the wildest shit. It’s a kid. Like a middle schooler.” Delilah threw out one of her hands. “And he’s out here wandering Gotham every night and chatting up the dead.”

    Jason could only stare at her. Processing. A kid who could see ghosts... What was this? The Sixth Sense: Gotham edition??

    Something whispered about in hushed tones, his name never spoken aloud during the night for fear of summoning him. Mothers in desperate attempts to control their children would use him as a threat, behave or The Bat will come for you.

    Then time passed. Little by little, the gothamites learned, The Bat wouldn’t harm them. He was their protector, fighting against the criminals and rogues of the cursed city. Still not entirely human, sure, no human would be insane to do what he did every night. No human capable of what The Bat was capable of. However, not something for the average person to fear.

    That’s when the offerings appeared.

    Small trinkets left on windowsills, sometimes with notes, sometimes without. Offerings ranging from the superstitious to the practical. A couple coins, a home baked good, a protein bar. All of them though were offerings to The Bat, to get on his good side, to guide him in his efforts to protect the city.

      Tim is in the Tower to gather homework he needs for his parent-teacher meeting. His parents are actually going to be there for once. He's excited!

      He's about to leave the Tower when Red Hood appears and attacks him - lots of manipulation and making Tim hurt himself. Toying with him yk? Until tim's phone rings for the 3rd time and tim picks up thinking its Dick.

      Its the receptionist at Gotham Academy saying 'yes, you said you were away on business and couldnt attend today. Just wanted to check we should send the feedback to your normal email as usual?' And tim breaks and babbles about how his parents never show up.

      Jason stops his attack, tim passes out and wakes up in the cave, bandaged and splinted. Jason waits with tim for batman and nightwing to arrive. Whr. They do, dick tries to get Jason to stay but jason begs to go and bruce is conflicted, but allows it. Bc of the reveal of his identity yk? He warns bruce that he'll kill him if he lets tim go back to his parents.

      Tim father's his stuff from drake manor amd runs into jason eho took some of his stalking photos and bought him a new phone for tbe one he smashed at rhe tower - under rhe contact 'ghost', the relationship is 'brother'.
