His eyelashes fluttered as he looked into her eyes. It was painful to pull her eyes away but she couldn’t meet his gaze for more than a moment, terrified of what she would find in it. Like, the reflection of her deepest faults and regrets.
She got on her knees in front of him, getting to work quickly before her mask of composure slipped. She had to focus on what she could mend. She wondered if this was how he kneeled before the altar in church. This was her penance.
She got to work on his wounds.
Or, Rose and Dimitri meet after the fight. They mend each other as much as they can.
