It was like one of my nightmares again. My legs seemed to move slower and slower as I fought my way through the crowd, but the hands on the huge clock tower didn't slow. If I didn't get there soon, everything would be lost. I was the only one who could do this. The only one not trapped to the shadows by the brilliant sunlight beating down overhead. So, I put my head down and I ran faster, shoving past people when I had to. I didn't care. I had to get there in time. I had to save the girl I loved, no matter what I had to do. Even if I might die here today like Alice had said, I had to try.

I'd never given much thought to how I would die- But dying in the place of someone I loved seemed like a good way to go. I stared across the long room at the hunter, and she smiled pleasantly back at me. Surely is was a good way to die, in place of someone else- Noble even. That had to count for something. I knew that if I'd never come to Forks, I wouldn't be facing death now. But, terrified as I was, I couldn't bring myself to regret it. Every decision I'd made, every moment spent in this magical place had been worth it. I took a deep breath and steadied myself as the hunter crouched, her fangs out, preparing to spring.....
