Tim blinked when the power abruptly went out, casting the room in darkness.
“Oh.”
There was a silence for a moment, before he noticed there was a faint luminescent glow, yet so very noticeable in the pitch black background.
“Is that a lamp? Where’s the light coming from?” Someone, probably Dick, questioned, before he realized, ‘oh, they’re talking about him’.
Sadly, his panic made his eyes widen, which only made the unnatural light even more conspicuous.
“Tim, is that–”
He blurted out the first thing that came to mind, “I ate a flashlight!”
His thoughts had wandered back to that really old meme where a person shook themselves, started glowing, and said, ‘I swallowed a flashlight’. God that was so stupid.
There was quite a noticeable silence, that only seemed to prolong his awaiting death sentence (when did he get so dramatic?).
Well, this has happened.
“But why would that make your eyes–”
First excuse coming to mind, go. “I have tapetum lucidum! Y-You know, the thing that makes cats eyes glow and lets them see better in the dark, haha—”

Summary
Bruce hasn’t had Dick Grayson for very long, he wasn’t sure he was cut out for being a parent. The boy was still well under the influence of his manipulators, The Court of Owls messing with the fragile young mind too strong willed to be completely sucked under. It created a different problem, a child caught between freedom and enslavement within their own mind. A child so conditioned he would find any weapon possible for no discernible reason. Bruce had to confiscate so many already, but this time, when Bruce came down the stairs to find his child talon who had abandoned his room in search of more knives, he found the boy shivering instead.
Or, Bruce has a smol murder bean who is very scared and very cold, knives are obviously the answer until Bruce gives him a hug
