Vi has to know. Vi will find out regardless because Caitlyn can’t keep a secret to save her life. Everyone is going to find out and everything will change or stay exactly the same, and this is an inevitability.

Somewhere along this train of thought, Caitlyn is standing up, marching across the hallway, and swinging the unlocked bathroom door open to make eye contact with Vi through the foggy shower pane.
“I made captain.”
Because tell her apparently means tell her right now.
Vi, loofah halfway to her armpit, lets it fall to the ground with an absolutely cracked open expression of shock Caitlyn is certain must now be mirrored on her own face.
“What?”Caitlyn is made captain of the Piltover Gears. Naturally, she has a very normal reaction to this. Vi helps her process- among other things.

“I’m still kissing you, aren’t I?”
“Technically, I guess,” Vi grouses, still rolling her hips down into Caitlyn’s thigh.
“Technically?” Caitlyn repeats, voice higher than she’d meant it to be and Vi, the devil, laughs. Caitlyn is genuinely affronted, but she thinks she has a right to be, given the circumstances. She pulls back to glare at Vi, the effect ruined by the reflexive smile that breaks across her face at the sight of Vi flushed and grinning at her.
“I mean, I don’t know how you Topsiders learn to do it,” Vi says. “But where I’m from when you’re kissing, y’know, for real, like you mean it, there tends to be a lot less room for talk.”
Well, fine. If she wants it to be like that.

In her efforts to simply do her part and dip out of dodge, she incidentally places herself in the crosshairs of a very competitive woman more than willing to rise…or more aptly sink to her knees in order to take on the challenge between Vi’s legs.

The suggestion is so soft. So tentative. And in some less hazy part of Vi’s brain, she knows Cait’s right.
It isn’t even a thought when her arms wrap around Caitlyn’s waist, pulling them even more flush together. She buries her face in the crook of Caitlyn’s neck, shamelessly breathing her in before murmuring, her voice a cracked and low hum, “Later, Cupcake. Let me have this first.”
Because there was a moment– several moments, all of them scattered in broken glass bottles on an apartment floor she never wants to see again– where she never thought she’d get to have this.
