Summary
This letter feels different from the others, less a message, more a touch. He wonders when Hannibal first set pen to paper, what hour of the night, what thought carried him from one phrase to the next. He can almost see it in his mind: Hannibal’s hand holding the pen as it drags effortlessly across the page.
He thinks about their phone call again — ‘it matters to me’ — and shivers. The hook Hannibal lodged in his heart years before tugs again as it buries itself deeper in his chest. The temptation to see him grows and swells until it slowly becomes need. Will wants to look into his eyes again, he wants to see the shape of his mouth as it dissects him from across a room. He wants to experience it one last time, then perhaps he can close the door on all of this forever.
The slam of the cabin door jolts him out of it. He shoves the letter into his pocket, blinking back into the present. Outside, Molly is already heading for her car.
“We’re out of milk,” she calls, deliberately not looking at him as he approaches.

This genuinely feels like an alternate timeline that 100% happened. Amazing season 3 AU. It does not turn away at all from the way they treat each other. It accepts it and embraces the beauty of their connection at the same time.
This is the one where Hannibal is in prison and Alana allows him to write Will. She's hoping it will hurt him more this way but it backfires. Will struggles quite a bit but eventually comes to accept his love for Hannibal and breaks him out very similar to the end of the show.

Spoilers: This is the one where Hannibal is a piece of shit who takes will to a sex dungeon in order to help him find a killer, and lies to him, drugs him and gags him as part of this. Otherwise it probably would have been okay. But after being beaten bloody with a cane, sliced up, and then fucked in front of an audience when he had only had sex with men at all for the first time in the past week, Will was not interested in Hannibal anymore.
... For a while.
It's incredibly believable, the push and pull is immersive and in character.
Their love is tender even if it is fucked up too.

Summary
Hannibal and Will have murder husbands mind palace sex, and Alana watches obsessively.
A slow, sneaky grin slides its way across Will’s face as he looks up at Hannibal and teases, “You enjoy being watched.”
“Does a lion eat its prey while it is still alive?” Hannibal asks rhetorically, an amused quirk to his lips. He drags his elbows against the silk sheets, letting himself rest his weight on them so he can comfortably brush his fingers through Will’s curls. After a pause, he drops his head, and presses his open mouth to Will’s. He pulls back a fraction, and breathes, “Yes.”
Fully smiling now, sharp and uncontrolled, Will arches up against Hannibal’s body, and asks, “Does that make me the lion, or the prey?”
“You are simply part of the pride,” Hannibal murmurs.
