Summary
Clarke often used to gaze up at the sky, wondering what secrets were kept amongst the stars. She forced herself to look past the magic, the light, and track the Ark – or what she wanted to believe was the Ark. She would wait until Madi fell asleep, clamber on top of the Rover, lay back, and watch the night sky.
And she would wonder.
Honestly, Clarke isn’t sure if she would’ve preferred to keep wondering.
~~~~~~
Diyoza comes to Octavia with an offer involving Clarke's mother, so naturally, Clarke and Bellamy crash the meeting. Except the deal involves one of them in the worst possible way.
Summary
“I’ll be fine,” she muttered, shaking her head as she opened the front door. And, there the body was, right where it fell. The others rushed in behind her. Raven took the trophy toward the kitchen, probably to wash it off. Monty and Bellamy moved toward the body, and she could see that Bellamy was thinking about using the rug to wrap him up in.
There was no way in hell that all five of them were going to get away with this.
Summary
Arkadian Valley has secrets. Underneath the town, riddling the hills, lines of power spill energy into the residents. Strange, unexplainable things happen. Magic flows, but people kill to keep the knowledge of that magic silent.
Clarke's father died for that secret, and now Clarke knows. She is a virtual prisoner in her own home, forever alone.
Bellamy also knows secrets. Secrets are life when it comes to being a Blake witch. He and his sister are the only witches he knows, but they are still alive, so they keep the secret. Isolated and alone.
But magic has a call of its own. And those who belong together may hear the call.
Summary
What if the Ark wasn't failing? What if there never was a problem with the air at all. Ark Station will apparently make it another hundred years until they are sure the earth is habitable again.
The rules are less draconian. No automatic floating for any adult crime.
Second children are not a capital offense. They are however, the lowest of the low, a waste of air. They are given no rations or housing allotment, no education, no medical care. No resources are given to Seconds at all. And the families they came from? They are in disgrace.
When 23 year old new doctor Clarke meets Bellamy, he is a low level guard playing in gladiator tournaments to make credits to support Octavia, and is in need of medical care from Clarke's unsanctioned clinic on Factory.
The thing is, even though the Ark itself is functioning just fine, the people of the Ark are a powder keg of anger, injustice and resentment, and someone has to do something before the last of humanity destroys itself.
“Are we really going to do this again this summer?”
“Are you referring to me giving you legitimate critiques and you not being able to handle it correctly? Because if so, I really hope not. I would have hoped that we had evolved past that kind of pettiness,” he joked.
Summary
That same, elusive shrug. “It’s a secret, princess.” He says pointedly, snagging the book from her before throwing the truck into park, “But you’ll be the first to read it once it’s done, okay?”
“Wow,” she says, nodding. “I’m honored.”
A beat as he sizes her up, his brows furrowing together in exasperation before he says, weary, “You’re going to ask me what it’s about again, aren’t you?”
“Bellamy,” she says obediently, grinning, “what’s your book about?”
If you told Clarke Griffin that she would become best friends with the resident black sheep of Arkadia, she would have difficulty believing it, let alone the fact that he apparently wrote an entire book about her.
(Or: Clarke and Bellamy through the years, as childhood best friends.)
Summary
On the subway, Clarke snaps a Polaroid of him before he can block the lens with his hand: His head is leant back, looking up and probably wishing that the top of the train was made of glass so he could see the star-speckled sky — he looks relaxed, dreamlike, as the soft orange light falls on his face.
She loves this one.
“Don’t you have enough photos of me?” he asks with no real heat. In fact, his voice is marked by a delicacy that makes her heart flutter.
“You know I don’t. I’m going to plaster them on my ceiling.”
(When Clarke's six years old, Bellamy's the boy in the tree, her best friend. At eighteen, she's not sure that she can call him that anymore, and of course that's when everything crumbles.)
Summary
Dropping out of Yale was the easy part. After one full year, Clarke decided the Ivy life just wasn’t for her. She missed her home and her friends. She missed her freedom. As long as she was at Yale, pursuing a pre-med degree, she wasn’t living her own life. She was living the life that her mother wanted for her.
That was the hard part: Telling her mother that she would not be going back to Connecticut when the summer ended.
She found a waitressing job with Raven’s help. Jasper and Monty told her she could crash on their couch until she found something more sustainable. And she started her life. It wasn’t perfect and it wouldn’t be easy, but she was happy. She was surrounded by the people she loved and needed and she’d go back to school when she wanted to. That was, if she wanted to go back at all.
And that was the beauty of it all. It was all on her own terms. The choice was hers. Her life, at last, was hers. And it was everything she ever wanted.
Until she met Bellamy Blake.
Summary
"This is absurd, you aware of that? And illegal," he pointed out with an uncertain expression before adding, "and you're gonna regret it first thing in the morning." Clarke laughed. Maybe. Okay, committing insurance fraud by marrying a literal stranger would probably bite her back in the ass one day but saving a life was worth it a thousand times.
Or, the one in which Bellamy needs a heart transplant but has no insurance, Clarke is a doctor with great insurance and the solution is pretty obvious.
Update, 28.02.2020: I’m currently re-editing and correcting the story for anyone wondering why this is being updated and showing up in the tag.
Summary
Look, Clarke will not dwell on this. She will not get flustered just because a possibly cute guy on Facebook apparently shares her views on what constitutes a terrible person.
Ten minutes later, her phone gives a short, irritated buzz; startling her enough that she jumps.
Biting at the inside of her cheek, she allows herself a quick peek.
Friend request from Bellamy Blake.
Clarke has no idea how she manages to develop a crush on a guy who won’t stop fighting everyone on Facebook, but here they are.
(Or: Clarke meets Bellamy on Facebook. They hit it off.)
