Chapter Text
Andy stood in Miranda's office as her boss dictated instructions for some inane gala she was supposed to schedule. Suddenly, the ringing of a phone cut through the rapid-fire words. Miranda looked down at her phone and grabbed it with surprising speed. She shot Andy a glare so scathing that, had she not disintegrated out of the office immediately, Andy might actually have dispersed in to atoms on the spot.
It must have been the twins—nobody else inspire such haste and urgency in Miranda. As Andy turned around and walked back to her desk, she heard Miranda start speaking, her voice softer and more gentle than Andy had ever heard it before.
"Hi baby. Yes, mommy will be there tonight."
Andy's brain stuttered for a moment. Mommy? The concept of Miranda Priestly being a mother was already difficult enough for Andy to grasp, but calling herself mommy is a whole other can of worms.
The rest of the day went relatively smoothly. The run-through went off without a hitch. Even after the graphics team had made a mistake—what would normally have been considered a grievous sin—Miranda simply scoffed and told them to fix it.
Andy leaned in to Nigel who was sitting next to her and whispered amusedly, "Mommy's in a good mood today."
If Nigel was surprised at her words, he didn't show it. "Six, be careful, lest Mommy punish you."
Andy pressed her lips together, suppressing the giggle that was bubbling up within her.
