A Slice of Life

Summary:

Each chapter is a short piece of fiction inspired by a prompt. There will be multiple fandoms, I've listed a few of my common ones to write in, and the chapters are not necessarily connected. If a chapter goes along with a previous chapter, I will note that in the later chapter. I hope you enjoy!

Notes:

My first drabble is from Nancy Drew 2019. I love the Nancy/Abe dynamic even if it wasn't cannon.

Chapter 1: Abe and Nancy: Clandestine

Chapter Text

We saw our breath under the streetlights on the coastline
But we were warm with cheap coats on and the glow in our eyes
Anybody with half their mind would’ve kept warm inside
But we’re young and have a point to prove, so let’s do this in style
January
AS IT IS

Standing on the coastline, the light of Hudson Bay behind her, Nancy watched the moonlight dance upon the water. As pretty as the sight was, looking out on these waters was always bittersweet—after all they were her birth mother’s resting place. A shiver went up her spine, and though the wind off the water was cold this March evening, it had nothing to do with the temperature.

“Perhaps I can help warm you up.”

The soft tenor voice brought a smile to Nancy’s face even as strong arms encircled her. She leaned into the embrace. “You won’t get a complaint from me.”  Tilting her head back she accepted the kiss she knew would be offered.

Once they broke the kiss, they both stood, Tamura’s arms wrapped around Nancy, and looked out over the water. They took a few quiet moments just enjoying being together and then Nancy broke the silence.

“I’m glad work didn’t keep you.”

There was a soft chuckle. “I left the city to escape two things—situations that extended my work day and romantic complications. Ironically, this town provides both.”

“I’m a complication, huh?”

“In the best way,” Tamura said. “But let’s face it, we’re meeting here in the dark because we are afraid we’ll become the next Hudson Bay scandal—the new police chief dating a nineteen year-old amateur sleuth whom has been the center of several of his investigations. Not to mention, your two fathers.”

“Ryan has no room to criticize. He had an affair with George before she turned eighteen.”

“I’m going to pretend you never told me that.”

Nancy chuckled. “So are you saying you want me to keep secrets from you?”

“When they involve behavior that could be considered a crime, please do.”

“Well, I am over eighteen so being with me is not a crime.” Turning in his arms she faced him.

“Do you think this town is ready for us, Drew?”

Looking into his eyes in the semi-darkness, Nancy Drew. “I don’t know nor do I care. Let them talk. I’m getting use to being the talk of the town.”

Tamura’s answer was to pull her closer and kiss her with a passion that some might question if it constituted public indecency.
