Side with me, kid.

Summary:

Dipper can't turn up a deal with the very voice that has both haunted and comforted him since he discovered his powers.

Notes:

Inspired by the cover song "deCIPHER" from Knitting Giant Beanies (original by Madame Macabre) Just a tiny fic I wrote up to dispel the writer's block that hit me a little hard today. Hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

"Hey, kid, I know you can hear me!"

Dipper laid on his bed, staring at the ceiling as the voice continued to pester him.

"Kid, listen!"

Dipper sighed, closing his eyes.

"What do you want, Bill?"

"For you to stop ignoring me!"

"When I talk to you, you make me out to be insane in front of people. So no, I'm not going to talk to you."

"You are right now, Pine Tree. Besides, don't you wanna know what I have to say?"

"Not particularly, no."

Dipper brought his hands to his eyes, rubbing them harshly. It was dark in the room, and he heard Mabel shifting on the other side of the room.

"Dipper?" Her sleepy voice called out.

"Go back to bed, Mabel."

There was a moment of silence before Mabel finally gave a small noise in agreement. He heard shuffling again before soft snoring continued.

"But you want to hear what I have to say; I already know, kid!"

Dipper glared at the ceiling as spots filled his vision from his rigorous rubbing.

"Fine, what do you have to say?"

"I have my own body!"

Dipper rolled his eyes. He forced himself to sit up, staring into the darkness of the room.

"Incredible. You've been talking about getting your own body for quite a while. Congrats." His voice dripped with sarcasm as he stretched the muscles in his arms.

"You don't believe me? Go outside!"

Dipper placed his hands on the comforter that continued to cover his legs and forced it off. Might as well humor the dream demon, he wasn't going to get any sleep tonight anyway.

"Why don't you bother Ford or literally anyone else?" Dipper yawned, pushing himself off the bed.

"Because you're way more interesting than all the meat-sacks combined, Pine Tree!"

Dipper sighed at the comment. He shuffled to the edge of the bed, pulling shoes on over his bare feet. He glanced over at Mabel before he turned to leave the attic door.

"This is your chance. Side with me kid, and I'll always have your back!"

Dipper scratched his head.

"Bill, what are you talking about?"

"Come on, Pine Tree! Hurry up!"

Dipper started down the stairs, holding the railing as he made every wobbly step. His exhaustion made seeing in the dark difficult, but he continued forward regardless.

"Kid, admit I've been everything to ya these past few years. You need me."

Dipper furrowed his eyebrows as he reached the bottom of the stairs.

"Bill, you're not making any sense."

"Sure, I am! Boy, you sure are gonna be surprised!"

Dipper took a quick glance at the living room, watching the slow rise of Stan's chest as he snored. The TV was mumbling something unintelligible, the soft glow lighting the room. He turned back to the door. He should've thrown a jacket on, but it was too late to go back up now. Something was pulling him now, but he wasn't sure if it was from curiosity or an outside force. He was too tired to care. He reached to open the door, carefully turning it and opening it toward him. The first thing he felt was the cold chill of the night air. He squinted slightly, stepping onto the porch. A shadow stood in the lawn several feet from him and he rubbed his eyes.

It was the laughter that made his blood go cold.

He gasped as the figure stepped closer, a mischievous glint in the shadow's eye. His heart was suddenly in overdrive and the need to run pumped through his veins. His vision sharpened as the figure stepped into the moonlight from the forest. Golden blond hair glowed in the gentle light, a single bright yellow eye meeting his own. The demon continued laughing a terrifying cackle, it's teeth impossibly sharp that Dipper could see.

"Long time, no see, little tree!"

Dipper was frozen. He must be dreaming. He must be in the Mindscape. He wanted to wake up if this really was a dream. He wanted to scream, to slam the door shut and run for Ford's lab. But something kept him in place as the demon took confident steps toward the human.

"Do we still have a deal?"

Dipper's breathing quickened as the demon stood in front of him. The demon spotted an incredibly impressive tuxedo, leaning on his signature cane.

"B-Bill?"

"Oh, come on, Pine Tree. The price is still rather sparing for this deal. Possibly the sweetest deal I've ever made."

Dipper shut his mouth, suddenly realizing it had been open. He swallowed hard, aware of the incredibly hard pounding in his chest.

"Don't tell me you forgot?" Bill smirked, leaning down so he was just inches from the human's face.

Dipper took a step back, arms carefully raised at his sides like he was about to run. All Dipper heard was the snap of Bill's fingers before he was suddenly lifted in the air. He heard himself scream, but it didn't register. Heavy footsteps were approaching and Bill cackled.

"BILL!" Someone shouted behind him, and Dipper didn't have time to react before he heard the snap of fingers again.

Suddenly he was floating in an endless darkness. It was like his time in the bottomless pit, but he wasn't falling. He just floated there, weightless as infinite emptiness surrounded him.

"Jog your memory yet, kid?"

Dipper looked around quickly.

"Bill, where am I?" Dipper yelled, fear and anger seeping into his voice.

"You're in the black hole between our dimensions! Don't worry, you're not going to die here. I just don't want ol' Fordsie snooping around!"

"Show yourself, Bill!"

Suddenly the triangle floated beside him, twirling its cane its hand.

"You don't have to ask twice, little tree! So, are you ready to shake hands or what?"

"That proposal...you asked that when I wasn't in the right mind! It doesn't count now!" Dipper growled at the triangle.

"It's funny you say that, kid, cause according to your world you're never in the right mind!"

Dipper's lips pursed. His hands clenched into fists at his sides.

"You can't really think people are going to stop treating you like you're still a pathetic little omega when you show them your powers! I've been alive for a helluva long time, kid, and I can tell you know they won't change. If anything, they'll just use you and when you're all used up they'll toss ya. My offer is an opportunity of a lifetime, Pine Tree."

"My family protects me. Stan and Ford will understand and help me when they find out."

"Do you think they still will when they hear what's been happening to ya? What you did to that Alpha? You've already seen how Mabel's been treatin' ya since then!"

Dipper clenched his jaw, narrowing his eyes at the demon.

"I was protecting Mabel!"

"That's not what it'll look like to the alphas when they find out! You know you've always been different, kid. This dimension's just been dragging you down since the day you were born! Society's already deceiving you by making you think you don't matter just cause of your genetics! You don't have to sit and play 'good omega' anymore if you're with me, little tree."

"What's been happening to me is none of your business, Bill!"

"Ah, but it is, kid. You've been talking to me since the day you realized you had them. People will treat you like a freak when you slip up. You need me to protect you and you know it. You need an alpha that'll guard you and help you grow stronger. I can help you control your power, I can give you everything you would ever need, and you'll have access to all the mysteries of the universe."

Dipper remained silent. Bill took it as a sign to continue.

"Do you really think an alpha would take an omega that was stronger than them? Especially one that had unexplainable powers? You couldn't even get an alpha before you knew you had powers. And the guy you're about to be sold to? He'll ruin ya the second he finds out you have something powerful he can control. You don't want that, do you?"

Dipper turned his attention away from the demon, staring at his floating legs. Alphas regarded him as nothing but an unclaimed sex toy. His own parents had threatened to sell him off to an alpha that had interest in him, but when Dipper found out who it was he was petrified. The man was an unknown evil, having gone through several omegas that had mysteriously 'disappeared'. He sniffled, bending his legs slightly. His omega pheromones were always affecting him, making him feel horribly lonely and empty the longer he went without an alpha. His options were limited to an unknown evil or the known evil of Bill Cipher.

It was insane. He wasn't sure if the demon even had an interest in him beyond his powers, but the evil of Bill was better than the unknown of an alpha who quite possibly killed all of the omegas he ever mated with. His powers weren't powerful enough to fight anyone off, limited to levitating small objects. Except for when Mabel had been in danger. He frowned at the memory.

"Fine, Bill. But what are the terms? What do you get out of this?"

The triangle's eye squinted in obvious amusement.

"Glad ya asked, kid! All I want is a little omega pet of my own. If I become your alpha, I get a physical form in your dimension. And no, it won't be this form." Bill crossed his arms when Dipper opened his mouth to protest. "It'll be the form you saw earlier."

"And your powers?"

"Limited." The triangle uncrossed his arms again and floated closer to the human. "Being an all-knowing, powerful dream demon can be lonely, kid. That's where you come in, too. I need a little break. It's a win-win for the both of us, see?"

Dipper pursed his lips, watching the demon hold his hand out. He stared at the glowing blue flames that engulfed the demon's black hand and he sighed.

Bill was right. He'd been there through everything. He was the voice that soothed him when he was crying from the alpha that almost attacked him. He was the teacher that gave him more information than an omega was normally allowed to have. He was the listener that heard every rant and every fear. When Bill had offered this deal before, it had been when his parents told him he was about to be sold. Bill was always unusually soft toward him, whispering comforting words and offering gentle suggestions whenever things were hard. The demon had been there through everything. Dipper doubted the demon would hurt him, but a deal with Bill always made him incredibly weary. He frowned as he finally lifted his hand, grasping the demon's own.

"Deal."

Then suddenly the demon in front of him had formed into his human form, smelling of rich alpha pheromones and spices that Dipper couldn't quite place. Dipper yelped in surprise as the demon pulled him flush against his chest.

"Nice doin' business with ya, Pine Tree! Looks like you're really mine now!"

Dipper's eyes widened as the demon leaned in close, and the sudden jolt of pain from his neck made him try to push the demon away. It was useless as the demon's arms tightened around his back, sinking the fangs even further into the omega's neck. Dipper felt blood begin to trickle down his neck and he started whimpering. After a moment Bill slowly pulled away, lapping the blood up with a satisfied hum. Dipper slumped against the demon, eyes becoming droopy as the gentle licks against his neck became his only focus. He felt something surge in his veins as his vision darkened, slowly becoming completely dark.

The only thing he could make out before he passed out was the faded laughing of Bill.

Of his new alpha.
