Tewi had been bored for a long time when Kaguya and Eirin arrived. She was the leader of the earth rabbits, the oldest among them, the living legend who had countless adventures under her belt, and she was very bored.
So that was why, when she was informed of two strangers on her territory, Tewi was more relieved than worried, that was probably going to be fun.
And indeed it ended up being fun. The two of them were apparently running away from their old homes, where Kaguya was a princess. They told the story easily, and that endeared them to Tewi.
Soon, the pair hit upon the reason why they had come into her territory, and it was exactly as expected: They wanted a place of hide, and they were prepared to offer up quite a lot in exchange.
After hearing that, Tewi smiled and stated her terms:
“Be fun.”
“Be… Fun?” Kaguya seemed confused.
“Be fun. As long as you’re fun, you can treat this place like your home. Do you agree?”
There were a few moments of silence before the princess nodded and said yes.
Tewi smiled broadly before ordering her rabbits to help build a lodging for the two, as well as to follow their orders in general.
The fact that they could refuse unreasonable orders was not something that had to be said. Tewi had taken great pains over literal decades in order to make them understand that they could refuse orders, even from her.
And so it started being done, and it was barely three days later when Tewi’s decision was proven correct.

It was early night. The foundations for the home of the lunarians were already in place. It wasn’t a small lodging, but a combination of Kaguya’s abilities (she said that working to build her own house was an interesting new experience) and Eirin’s skill in commanding the workers meant the job proceeded quite quickly.
However, it was interrupted when someone suddenly appeared inside the work area. Tewi noticed her presence right before one of her rabbits (Pekora) sounded the alarm. Said person was a moon rabbit, a type of being Tewi had not seen in centuries.
She was about as tall as Princess Kaguya, had the distinct moon rabbit type ears on her head (with some sort of decorations at their roots), had red eyes that seemed a bit more piercing than those of ordinary rabbits, light-purple hair, and was wearing a beige skirt, red shoes and a black suit over a white shirt.
Only a moment later, the alarm came and the moon rabbit started running towards the lunarian duo. She was quite fast, enough to reach them in only a few seconds. Some of Tewi’s rabbits tried to get in her way, but they were no match, and ended up tossed aside without even slowing them down.
Tewi herself thought of interfering, but she saw that the invader had not actually harmed the rabbits, so she decided to just wait and watch.
Eirin put Kaguya behind her, readying herself to defend, but it turned out to be unnecessary. When she was only a few steps away, the moon rabbit threw herself to the ground in a pose of prostration.
“Please… Help me… Please…” She spoke.
Tewi noted that she was grabbing the ground with enough force to make her fingers red.
The lunarian doctor relaxed (but not completely) and asked her a question:
“What is it that you need help with?”
And then the moon rabbit started talking. She first introduced herself as Reisen (so now Tewi could finally stop mentally referring to her as simply “the moon rabbit”), and began to tell her story.
Anyone could tell that it wasn’t an easy thing for her. She spoke in fits and starts, often struggling to get any words out at all, and with a tone that could only be called desperate.
She was apparently a servant of two sisters with the name Watatsuki (which Eirin apparently knew) and had been ordered by them to find Eirin and Kaguya and inform her masters of their situation.
However, there was some sort of intrigue involved in the whole situation (which was only natural, considering it involved an actual princess), and when she was about to set off, a moon noble (she didn’t know who it was, since they were under “both physical and magical disguise”, apparently) had put a Binding Order on her.
Tewi didn’t know the specifics, but it was obviously some sort of method to force the compliance of an order. And what they had ordered her to do was killing Eirin and bringing Kaguya back to the moon when the doctor was dead.
Normally she would have ran back to her masters and got them to countermand the order, but the noble had been clever and added that she had to set off immediately and that she was unable to contact anyone on the moon before killing the doctor.
So Reisen had been forced into an impossible situation, unable to defy an order that would be going completely against her masters’ wishes. She had tracked the two down, but decided to try and ask for the help of Eirin, who was apparently famous as a miracle-worker,
“I thought of killing myself… But I don’t want to die either…” Reisen said “So please... If you are able, please help me…”
It was clear that the effort of holding herself back when the target was so close was taking its toll on the rabbit. And Tewi could imagine how difficult it must have been for her to speak all of that in such condition.
After hearing all of that, for some reason Eirin had a slight smile on her face:
“Don’t worry. There is a way.” She said “Everything will be fine. Just go ahead and kill me, and everything will be fine.”
Reisen stared at the doctor in utter confusion for a moment, but she had already been pushed beyond any reasonable measure, so even without understanding, the rabbit had to trust her words.
Eirin took a step forward as Reisen got up. Tewi could see that Kaguya seemed amused, and while she didn’t really understand what was going on, she suddenly felt a sense of kinship with the lunarian princess.
Reisen’s face was full of distress in contrast to Eirin’s completely calm appearance, and that made for an incredibly strange scene as the rabbit approached the doctor and thrust a hand through her chest. If you were to only look at the expressions of the two, it would seem more like Reisen was the one being pierced through the heart.
Reisen emitted a strangled sound as she pulled back her hand and saw Eirin crumble to the ground. A second passed, and then two, and finally a strange phenomenon occurred: Space seemed to shift and bend with a noise that sounded like water suction, except somehow muddled and distorted.
The spatial distortion appeared right on top of the fallen form of Eirin, covering up her open wound in a blur of color for a few seconds and then vanishing, along with any sign of said injury.
The woman stood up, and one could see that the same went for her entry wound. Eirin then did a quick gesture and her clothes were instantly repaired. Afterwards she looked at Reisen and spoke:
“You have killed me, so that mission is done.” She smiled “However, I am not currently dead, so your second order does not apply. Yet, due to the wording of your orders, you are now free to contact whoever you want, so you could send a message to the sisters and receive new orders.”
The rabbit fell to the ground on her knees.
“Thank you… Thank you so much…” She spoke with tears in her eyes.

Things calmed down a bit after that. Reisen had excused herself to go send a message to her masters, and Tewi had already been quite entertained by the whole situation, so she would have been perfectly satisfied even if nothing more had come of it.
However, that was not what happened. Instead, Reisen returned before the day was even over. She went to talk with Eirin and Kaguya with an expression that was a mix between nervousness and hope.
“I reported to them, and they gave me permission to ask… Would you be willing to accept me as a servant?” She bowed her head.
“Why do you wish to become a servant?” Eirin asked her after a moment.
“I… I’ve wanted to change for a while, but I didn’t want to betray my masters…” Reisen started speaking “And now, after this happened, I finally decided to tell them how I felt… Because I thought they might accept letting me go if it was to serve the two of you…”
She stopped for a bit and then looked at Eirin with eyes full of determination “I don’t want to kill any more… If possible, I would like to learn how to heal…”
Then Reisen lowered her head and waited. Eirin looked at Kaguya and asked “What do you think, princess?”
In response, Kaguya smiled and nodded. And so Eirin, with a small smile of her own, spoke:
“Then, I shall accept you as my apprentice and a servant of the princess.”
And from then on, there would be another new person living in the forest.

Tewi spent a few days simply observing the newcomers, trying to understand more about what made them tick so she could figure out how to have the most fun with them.
Kaguya was the easiest. It didn’t take long for Tewi to see that they had a lot in common in terms of their sense of humor, so it didn’t take a lot of prompting to get her to cooperate with some of Tewi’s pranks on the other rabbits (and they also pranked each other sometimes, to liven things up).
Eirin was much different. She was the really serious type the Tewi loved to prank, but she was also incredibly smart and hard to fool, so pranking her was quite difficult. But Tewi was honestly glad for the challenge. She would have to set up complicated and multifaceted schemes years in advance, while also using smaller plots to distract Eirin and obscure her true purpose. It was gonna be fun.
(Tewi also couldn’t include Kaguya in those schemes, since Eirin was the super-loyal type that would just submit herself to the prank if the princess was involved, and that would be no fun at all.)
As for the newest member of the group, Reisen…

One day Tewi had been observing the moon rabbit as she directed some of the bunnies to work on clearing out an area for a construction, when suddenly Reisen looked right at her and shouted:
“Hey, you! Don’t just stand there and watch, come work!”
Tewi was a bit surprised. She wasn’t going all out on trying to be stealthy, but she still didn’t expect the other girl to notice her.
‘Hmm… How do I reply to this?’ The rabbit thought for a moment.
Then she quickly ran forward and joined the others in their work. Her rabbits were well-trained, so they didn’t give away the game by reacting visibly to their leader suddenly appearing and taking part.
Tewi wanted to see how Reisen would react to learning she had been ordering around the landowner, so she decided to stick to the role of a normal rabbit for a little bit. There wasn’t that much work overall, and it was pretty much already halfway done by the time Tewi joined in, so she didn’t have to wait for that long.
Soon enough, everything was clear and Reisen thanked the rabbits for their hard work and let them go on their way. Tewi stayed behind and walked up to the taller rabbit.
“Hi! I’d like to introduce myself, I’m called Tewi.” She spoke with a smile.
It took a moment before she saw a look of realization appear in Reisen’s eyes, then the moon rabbit seemed to be desperately trying to think of how to react before she apparently made her decision.
“Did you enjoy the work? I could give you more things to do.” She finally replied.
Tewi raised an eyebrow “That wasn’t the reaction I was expecting.” She still had a smile on her face.
“Master told me that the condition for them to live here was to ‘be fun’, so I thought it would be better to do something unusual. Ah, and I’m called Reisen, I also received the name Udongein from master.” Tewi could see that the moon rabbit wasn’t sure how her attempt would be received.
“Okay then, I’ll accept your proposal.” She decided to play along.
She probably wouldn’t actually listen to Reisen’s words most of the time, but maybe she’d follow her orders once in a while, just to screw with her.

And then there was another day, when Tewi decided to play a prank on Reisen. She made a classic pitfall trap and sent one of her rabbits (Kurimu) to call the girl, saying that Tewi wanted some help from her.
She was an old hand at that stuff and had already figured out what Reisen’s abilities were, so she knew that they wouldn’t allow her to detect a hidden pitfall. And Tewi was very good at making those.
She also had to lure Reisen onto the pitfall area. That was another important element of such traps, as the targets would get suspicious if the luring method was too obvious.
Tewi’s solution to that was twofold: First, she had placed the pitfall in the middle of a narrow corridor inside one of the storage houses that she and her rabbits used, meaning Reisen would have to walk over it in order to get to where Tewi was. Second, she had a believable reason to call for the other rabbit, which was asking for her help with sorting things inside the storage.
So she began to do some sorting herself while waiting for Reisen. It didn’t take long before she heard the sound of the door opening and turned to look, and upon seeing her target, she waved and called out to her:
“Come on! I need some help with this!”
Then she turned back to avoid giving away the game, listening intently for Reisen’s approach. One step, two steps, three steps and she turned towards the other rabbit again in a very natural manner.
Her timing had been near perfect. Reisen was just about to take the last step onto the pitfall, so Tewi had to do her best to avoid reacting unnaturally for a few moments longer-
“Kyaahhh!!” Reisen screamed as she fell into the pitfall.
Tewi ran towards it, laughing her head off, then jumped over the hole and turned to look down into it, seeing that Reisen had fallen down face-first, just as planned.
“Hahahahaha! You fell for it!” She declared, then ran out of the storage.
She heard Reisen’s voice “Why, you little-!”, muffled since the girl was inside a hole.
And then there was a crashing sound followed by fast steps. Tewi looked behind to see Reisen running towards her. She hadn’t been fleeing at top speed because she hadn’t expected the other rabbit to reach her so quickly, so by the time she looked behind it was already too late.
With a flying tackle, Reisen fell onto Tewi, grabbing the smaller rabbit as the two of them rolled on the ground. Before she was able to react, Tewi found herself being held down by Reisen.
Who looked down at the earth rabbit with sharp intent… And began tickling her.
“Hahahahah! No, sto-hahahaha!” Tewi was barely able to speak.
“This is what you get! No mercy!” Reisen replied.
Her tickling continued, and whenever it seemed like Tewi was starting to get used to it, Reisen would change the spots where she was tickling, causing her to be unable to stop laughing, and the intensity of the tickling started escalating, becoming faster and faster until… Reisen suddenly stopped.
She waited a few seconds for Tewi to regulate her breathing, and then spoke.
“So, have you learned your lesson?”
Tewi looked at her and then replied while still lying down on the ground:
“Not in the slightest.”

Tewi was honestly fascinated by Reisen. She found herself thinking about the other girl quite often even while doing unrelated things, as well as trying to find excuses to spend more time with her.
Tewi could tell what all of that meant. She wasn’t an idiot, nor was she inexperienced in the matters of romantic relationships. It had been a while since the last time she felt like that, but Tewi could still easily tell that she had developed strong feelings for the moon rabbit.
Upon recognizing that, the obvious question became what to do about it. And the obvious first step was trying to figure out Reisen’s own feelings. In the simplest of terms, Tewi had to ask herself the question “Do I have a chance?”
And the answer to that question was… maybe. Tewi was not entirely sure, but thinking back to her interactions with Reisen, she felt that the other rabbit treated her in some ways that could potentially be read as signs of possible interest. It was difficult to tell for sure, though.
So step two also became obvious. She couldn’t tell for sure, so the only thing to do was trying it. Refraining from making a move because she wasn’t sure would simply result in no progress being made. Tewi was too smart to make such a mistake. She usually acted childishly, but she could be mature when she had to.
Tewi decided to act in such a way that made her feelings and intentions obvious. If Reisen rejected her, then that was just the way things were. Fear of rejection would not stop her from trying.

Tewi did what she was best at: Preparing a plan. There were some obvious considerations to be made before she acted, the most important of which being the timing and location. Things would be quite awkward for Reisen if she were to do it in public, so it was best to get her alone first.
Another consideration was the mood. It would be difficult for her confession to go well if the mood wasn’t right. Finally, she wanted to make sure Reisen would answer with her true feelings, and Tewi decided that the best way to do that would be getting Reisen to think about her beforehand. And not in the usual way.
Eventually, she decided on what a good first step would be, and waited for a suitable day to arrive. It had to be a day where Reisen wasn’t receiving Eirin’s lessons, as she wouldn’t have the energy to think of anything else. It also couldn’t be a day where she was just too busy with other things in general.
The day finally came, and Tewi began her plan by heading to Eirin’s office, where Reisen was currently sorting documents, which was a simple but time-consuming work.
“Hi, hi!” She greeted the other rabbit upon entering.
“Hi to you too. What do you want, Tewi?” Reisen replied without taking her eyes off her work.
“I’m kinda bored.” She replied “Since you’re probably bored as well, why don’t we talk for a bit?”
“Sure.” Reisen said after a moment.
“Then I’ll start with: How are your lessons with Eirin going?” Tewi asked.
That was a nice and safe topic to start with, and Reisen gladly talked about it while still working. From there things went with Tewi mostly being the one who brought up subjects while Reisen responded. The smaller rabbit had noticed that Reisen was still a bit wary, apparently unsure whether that was for real or just the setup for a prank, so she took her time waiting for Reisen to relax a bit.
And only after that did she finally act.
“So Reisen, have you ever been in a relationship?” She asked in a light but not entirely casual tone.
That made the moon rabbit pause for a moment. She even stopped her work to look at Tewi before speaking:
“Why do you ask?”
“I’m curious. You don’t need to give me any details if you don’t want to.” Tewi replied.
Reisen hesitated for a bit but evidently decided that it would be easier to just answer instead of trying to argue.
“A little bit. But it was a while ago.”
“Then I guess I have more experience than you in that aspect.” Tewi said.
“You… Oh yeah, you’’re older, aren’t you… It’s easy to forget sometimes, given how you generally act.” Reisen actually smiled a bit at that.
“I just like to live true to myself.” Tewi grinned back at her “Though I admit that acting mature sometimes has its advantages.”
“Sometimes, huh…? I guess that does fit you.” Reisen admitted.
Tewi nodded “Hmm… Yeah, that was a nice change of pace. Thanks for the talk.” She said “I’m gonna go. See you later.”
“See you later.” Reisen said back as Tewi left the room.
She walked away and then let out a breath she had been holding. Things had gone well as Reisen was now more aware of Tewi in relation to maturity and relationships. Step one was complete.

After that Tewi waited for some time to pass. It wouldn’t do to bother Reisen constantly, as that would not leave a good impression. She only went after her later, when the taller rabbit girl was resting, sitting at the edge of a lake and letting her legs float inside it.
“Heya, Reisen.” She called out to the moon rabbit.
“Hi, Tewi. Are you bored today?” Reisen replied with a smile, though her eyes were focused, clearly wary of possible pranks.
“I haven’t really been bored ever since you, Eirin and the Princess came here.” She replied honestly, before adding “But I’m pretty free right now, so I decided to come see you. You were learning from Eirin yesterday, right? What was the subject? Was it something secret?”
While speaking, Tewi had been walking closer, before sitting down besides Reisen with deliberate casualness.
“No, it wasn’t anything like that, but it was really interesting. Teacher was telling me about chi and other similar energies that interact deeply with the body and could interfere with medicinal methods.” Reisen explained, clearly enthusiastic about the subject.
But Tewi already knew all of that, of course. She had received a thorough report from Ninjin, a rabbit subordinate of hers that had been tasked with helping the teacher and apprentice duo on that day with things like delivering refreshments. The reason she had asked about it was to set the conversation onto the path she had planned.
“Ah, that’s cool. I actually know a little bit about the subject.” She said, knowing Reisen wouldn’t be able to resist asking about it.
“Really?”
“Yes, I traveled around a lot by myself before becoming the leader here, so it was useful to know some medicine, and once I came back, there was always a need to be able to treat the other rabbits. Nowadays I mostly leave that to others who are more
interested in medicine in general, but I still remember quite a lot.” Tewi answered, once again telling the truth.
She did leave out the fact she had given herself a quick refresher on that particular aspect of medicine on the previous night.
“How did you learn?” Reisen asked, and Tewi smiled internally, seeing that the bait had worked, before replying:
“Youkai healing sages, mostly. A lot of them were more than willing to share their knowledge, even if it was just explaining what they were doing when they got called to help with issues we couldn’t solve for ourselves. I also learned in other ways, like from rabbits who had been pets of doctors before being abandoned and turning into youkai.”
“I see.” Reisen said, her tone of voice showing some empathy towards that last tidbit, but she clearly didn’t want to bring down the mood by asking about it, so instead she followed up with “What sorts of things do you know?”
“I know how to use youki pulses to induce positive physical reactions, as well as to deal with youki blockages.” Tewi answered “I assume Eirin already taught you about those, right?”
“Yes, Youki, the energy of youkai, can end up pooling into parts of the body that receive significant damage and aren’t properly healed in time, and since youki is naturally an opposition force, it acts as a blockage that disrupts attempts to fix issues.” Reisen said “I didn’t expect you could use youki pulses to deal with it, though.”
“I’m sure Eirin knows about it, but has other methods that work better.” Tewi theorized “The method works by using one’s own youki as a sort of pseudo-attack that causes the blockage to spend itself in defense. It is as dangerous as that sounds, and I wouldn’t try it without making lots of preparations and fail safes, but I have done it before, so I know it works.” She let that sit for a moment before continuing “Other applications of youki pulses are much safer, though, so I could even show you now.”
“Show me? Err…” Reisen hesitated.
“It’s just gonna be a small thing, you can talk to Eirin about it later, just give me your hand.”
Reisen caved to the pressure and extended her right arm to Tewi, hand open. The smaller rabbit examined it using her fingers, mostly focusing on the palm, and after finishing her check up, said “As expected, there’s still some muscle soreness from what happened before. Let me just…” And she sent a tightly controlled pulse of youki.
“Hmn!” Reisen grunted and pulled her arm back.
Tewi wasn’t offended. She understood that the feeling of it was pretty intense, and absolutely merited a reaction like that, especially given that she hadn’t warned Reisen. And she also knew that the feeling would fade pretty rapidly, so she just watched as the moon rabbit shook her hand, flexed her fingers and then just looked puzzled for a bit before speaking:
“I… I hadn’t even realized anything was wrong, but comparing my hands now, the right one feels much better.”
“That sort of damage due to muscle tension is something most people don’t even notice until it starts actually hurting, but it definitely still has an effect.” Tewi explained.
“Can you do my other hand too?” Reisen asked after considering that for a moment “It would feel weird to have the two of them unbalanced like this.”
“Of course. Give it to me here.”
And that was the final step of Tewi’s current scheme. Reisen couldn’t just extend her left hand to the earth rabbit without it being uncomfortable (as her left arm was on the opposite side from Tewi), so she had to turn a bit as well as moving closer to get into a better position, meaning their bodies were now actually touching.
Tewi was of the firm opinion that physical contact was the best way to bring people closer together.
She enjoyed the closeness (as well as the satisfaction of a successful scheme) as she examined Reisen’s left hand before doing what the taller rabbit had asked for.

That set the tone for the next step of the plan. Tewi would proceed to take advantage of any opportunity to engage in some physical contact with Reisen, taking care not to overdo it and make her uncomfortable instead. She would even listen to Reisen’s orders more than usual, but specifically the ones that allowed for more physical contact opportunities.
Tewi had not stopped doing pranks on Reisen, but she was careful to only do ‘long-range’ pranks like swapping objects in the moon rabbit’s room with more ‘fun’ versions, so as to not make Reisen wary when she approached.
During that time, she was also trying to gauge how Reisen felt towards her. Their interactions had led Tewi to believe that the other rabbit could come to see her in ‘that way’ in a romantic sense, but what about a physical one? Tewi paid careful attention to Reisen’s reactions to her contact, both conscious and unconscious.
She was looking for slight blushes, breathing irregularities, heart accelerations… Things like that. And the overall verdict was that, thankfully, the answer was positive. Reisen was clearly ‘feeling it’ from Tewi’s efforts. It was slight, to the point where she might not have even noticed anything herself, but it was there.
Tewi wasn’t worried about it being slight either, given that her efforts had also been subtle, and she could tell that it was growing, so if Reisen was still unaware, that state of affairs would soon change if Tewi continued as she was.
But the earth rabbit leader wasn’t the type to wait passively for someone else to make the first move.

The day of reckoning arrived, and Tewi approached Reisen while she was taking a break in one of the living rooms, sitting on a cushion. She wasn’t alone there, and she had gotten used to Tewi to the point of not even batting an eye when she sat down next to her.
The two began to talk, Tewi mostly leading the conversation by telling funny stories about things her subordinates had see or done, and while they were talking, some of the other rabbits began to leave the room. It was normal for people to go in and out of there at any point, so Reisen didn’t feel that anything was strange.
But of course, the rabbits had been leaving because Tewi had secretly ordered them to do so, and for the same reason, there wouldn’t be anyone else coming inside (she had subordinates watching Eirin, and Kaguya had left to visit her friend(?) Mokou).
Tewi also took the opportunity to place a hand on Reisen’s thigh, which the taller rabbit also didn’t find strange, given the amount of physical contact they had had during those last few weeks. But it wouldn’t take too long for her to realize that the situation wasn’t normal.
In the previous times, Tewi would only remain touching Reisen for a little bit before pulling her hand away, but this time, she not only didn’t do that, but she even began lightly rubbing the other girl’s thigh.
“Ah… Tewi…?” Reisen spoke haltingly after a few seconds of that.
“What?” Tewi replied without stopping her hand.
“That’s…” Reisen seemed about to say something, but then she looked around, finally noticing that the two of them were now alone in the room.
“You…” Her face was quickly getting redder and redder “What... Are you doing?”
“Rubbing your thigh.” Tewi replied simply.
She was cheering internally at the fact that Reisen wasn’t trying to pull away.
“But why?” The moon rabbit managed to ask.
“Because I wanted to do it. Just like I wanted to do this.”
Then Tewi moved quickly, getting up for just a moment before sitting down again… On Reisen’s lap, facing her.
The taller rabbit froze up at that, allowing Tewi to wrap her arms around her and pull her even closer. Their faces were almost touching, to the point where they could feel the warmth of each others breath. Tewi could also feel Reisen’s heartbeat, so she knew her heart was pounding like crazy.
“T-Tewi… This is…” Reisen’s tone was a mixture of many different feelings, confusion, shock, excitement and the like, and she seemed unable to truly express what she wanted.
So Tewi decided to give her a hand.
“Like I said, this is just me doing what I want to do.” She spoke kindly “And I think you should also try doing what you want.”
That was her last move. Tewi didn’t want to force Reisen into anything, she wanted the other girl to also want her, so all Tewi could do now was wait for Reisen’s answer.
Seconds passed. Reisen looked at Tewi, millions of thoughts rushing through her mind, until finally.
“Hmf!” Tewi let out a muffled cry of surprise.
It was muffled because Reisen was now kissing her. The moon rabbit’s kiss was hungry and passionate, and her lips felt far sweeter and softer than anything Tewi had imagined.
