Hello! I'm taking part of the Fluff July found here on Tumblr.

Todays Prompt is "You will be okay."

Work Text:

Simon didn’t think he’d ever make it out of the submarine.

He sent out the black box, and after that, he didn’t know, he’d die, he knew that much. From drowning in the blood ocean, turning into that monster, or even the radiation from the camera.

Simon closed his eyes, waiting for his fate to come.

Grace and Rocky were flying through space, racing through the stars to get to Erid.

That’s when Mary spoke up.

“Blip D spotted.”

Grace looked up from what he was doing in the navigation room.

“Uh, hey Rock?” Grace called out.

“Yes? Question?” Rocky’s music sounded through the Hail Mary.

“Can you come here?” Grace asked.

He heard Rocky clampering around in his tunnels before he appeared in the navigation room.

“What is it? Question?” Rocky asked as he ‘looked’ at Grace.

“Am I seeing this correctly? Is there another Blip there?” Grace asked.

Rocky got his camera and pointed it at the screen to see what he was talking about.

On the screen, Blip D was printed along with a little point on the screen.

“Yes. Grace is seeing this right. Statement.”

Oh good.

“Mary, can you tell what it is?” Grace asked the ship.

“I cannot.”

Oh thats… well. That’s not good.

Grace pulled up the probe camera and points it in the direction of the Blip.

It was stark against the space background. It was weird, it almost looked like a… submarine? No, that’s not possible, there’s no way for a submarine to be in space.

But the more he looked, the more he’s starting to think that yes, that is a submarine in space somehow.

“Rocky, when we get closer to it, were slowing down, I want to see what’s in there,” Grace said as he switched views, going to the controls and starting the slow down.

“What is it? Question?”

“A submarine.”

“What is a ‘submarine’? Question.?

“Something that is like a space ship but underwater.”

“Why is it in space? Question?”

“I’m not sure, that’s why I’m going in.”

“Be safe. Statement.”

“Don’t worry Rock, I will.” Grace said as he looked back towards Rocky.

Rocky gave a tiny form of a nod.

Finally, Grace headed towards the airlock.

Sometime during the flight, Rocky had made a tunnel that can expand off of the Hail Mary

Grace still put on the EVA suit on, he didn’t know what would find in the submarine.

“Rocky, once I go in, I want you to close this off, we don’t know what is going to be in there.”

“Will Grace be safe? Question?”

“I’ll be as safe as I can Rock, I promise.”

Rocky didn’t like this, Grace could tell.

“Rocky, I promise that I’ll be safe, I’ll be back. I’ll always be back.” Grace told Rocky.

Rocky nodded, getting into position as they approached the submarine.

Automatically, the Hail Mary started to slow done until it was right in line with the submarine.

Grace deployed the tunnel and grabbed the astrophage blow torch.

Once te tunnel reached the submarine, he unlocked the door, as the door behind him shut.

Good, Rocky listened to him.

Grace approached the ship carefully, he tried knocking against the wall, trying to see if he could hear anything from the inside.

Nothing.

Something ugly churned in Grace’s gut as he turned on the blow torch, starting to go into the ship.

As soon as he started, something red started gushing out.

Oh god please don’t be blood.

The more he went in, the more gushed out, then the smell hit him even through the EVA suit.

Blood.

Grace silently hoped that if there was a person inside, it wasn’t their blood.

There was to much for a body.

“Mary, is there an issue with me continue going in?” Grace asked.

“No, you are safe Dr. Grace.”

Grace didn’t say anything, he continued to go in, if there was someone in there, he needed to save them.

Finally, he got all the way through, but with that, a big gush of blood came flooding out.

Grace jumped back, yelping.

Once the flood of blood came out, Grace went in, looking.

His eyes scanned over the inside, what looked like an arm hung off the side of the wall. That was… concerning.

Finally, Grace’s eyes landed on a form sitting against the furthest wall. A human. Or at least, something that looked like a human.

Grace ran up to them, checking them over.

They were breathing.

good

Their left arm was ripped off.

Fuck.

Grace ripped some of the fabric of the persons shirt to make a makeshift bandage.

Finally, once he ensured that the person was ok, he lifted them up.

The person gave a small whimper, starting to struggle.

“Hey, hey, hey. You’re ok. You will be ok.”

The person stopped struggling, they laid motionless in his arms, Grace hoped that he would still be alive.

Finally, Grace got back to the Hail Mary, the door opened.

“Who is that? Question?” Rocky asked as he began rolling back, following Grace who was headed towards infirmary.

“I’m not sure, they were in the submarine.”

Rocky nodded but didn’t say anything more.

Grace placed the person on one of the infirmary beds, Armando immediately started working on the guy.

‘You will be ok.’ Grace thought, sitting beside the bed. He’ll stay there until he can’t anymore.
