Chapter Text

Today marks the third day since the Straw Hat Pirates left Wano, and it's another beautiful day in the New World.

Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper are all doing their usual thing: fishing.

"Nami swan, Robin-chan! Here's your breakfast, ladies, it's opera cake!" As usual, Sanji prepared breakfast for the only two girls on the ship.

"What! Where's my breakfast, Sanji!" Hearing about food, Luffy immediately abandoned his fishing and whined, demanding his breakfast.

"That's right! Where's ours, Sanji!" Usopp also clamored for his food.

"Sanji, I want some cotton candy!" Adorable Chopper, seeing everyone else asking for it, joined in.

"Get out! My breakfast is for the ladies only, you stinky men deal with it yourselves!" Sanji snapped, refusing their request for food.

"What?! Sanji, you're so discriminatory!" All three simultaneously showed disappointed expressions, their voices full of reproach as they looked at the chef.

Just then, Jinbei, the gang leader, jumped onto the deck from the water, carrying a 3-meter-long octopus in his hands.

"Luffy! I just caught an octopus, what do you want to do with it?" the trustworthy fish Jinbei asked, smiling as he held the octopus out to Luffy.

"Octopus! Sanji, I want to eat octopus balls. Make me some octopus balls quickly!" Luffy's eyes lit up at the sight of the octopus in front of him. His eyeballs had practically turned into octopus balls!

"Octopus balls, octopus balls, long live octopus balls!" Usopp and Chopper shouted and danced around.

"Alright! Alright! I'll do it, you guys are so annoying." Sanji heard the captain asking for food and outwardly showed annoyance, but the slight smirk on his lips betrayed him.

After saying that, he took the octopus from Jinbei's hand and went into the kitchen to prepare it.

"What's going on?" Zoro, who had just finished training, came over and, seeing how happy they were, asked curiously.

"Zoro! Jinbei just caught an octopus, today's lunch will be octopus balls!" Luffy said happily to the first mate.

"Octopus balls? Not bad." Hearing that, Zoro subtly licked his lips; after all, it had been a long time since they'd eaten that dish.

"Super! Luffy, come see my new creation!" Franky, having just finished building a small, palm-sized mechanical boat with a remote control, happily showed it to Luffy.

"Wow! That's so cool, Franky!" Seeing Luffy's admiring expression, Franky was extremely pleased.

"Come on, try driving it!" he said, then instructed Luffy on how to play.

"That's amazing!" the three children exclaimed excitedly as they saw the boat speeding across the water like the wind.

"Seriously! They're always so energetic!" Nami complained while reading a book and eating the breakfast Sanji had prepared, but a doting smile appeared on her face.

"Ha ha ha! Isn't that great? Everyone gets to be together like this!" Robin chuckled at this, and it had been a long time since the Straw Hat crew had all reunited.

"That's right, isn't it? We were separated when we arrived at Whole Cake Island, and then in Wano we were just fighting. It's been a long time since we've had such a peaceful day." Nami heard this and thought back on recent events; it was indeed a long time since they had experienced such peace.

"Yo ho ho ho! Luffy, would you like to hear my new song?" Brook approached excitedly, having just composed a new song and eager to perform it for the captain.

"That's awesome! Show us, Brook!" the young captain exclaimed, jumping up excitedly.

Regardless of the chaos in the outside world caused by the news of the new Yonko's ascension to the throne, the sun-drenched Thousand Sunny remained a scene of peaceful tranquility.

But perhaps the word "peaceful" never suited the Straw Hat Pirates or Monkey D. Luffy himself.

Because while they were relaxing and enjoying their own time, the incident occurred.

That's when Zoro was sleeping in the watchtower, Sanji was studying the menu in the kitchen, Robin was in the lounge, Nami was drawing a map, Chopper was brewing medicine, Jinbei, Franky, and Usopp were at the back of the ship checking the Sunny, and Brook was drinking tea in the lounge.

Only Luffy was on the deck, or rather, lying on top of the Sunny sunbathing, when a black hole appeared above his head.

Luffy was dozing off when he sensed something was wrong and immediately woke up.

He cautiously looked at the black hole, then an extremely strong gravitational force pulled Luffy towards it.

"Ah! What is this!" Luffy, taken by surprise, quickly used his rubbery ability to cling to Sunny's lion mane.

"Luffy! What's wrong?!" Zoro was the first to react to the incident, quickly running towards Luffy and asking anxiously.

"I don't know! It suddenly appeared above my head!" Luffy tried to hold onto the Sunny, but the black hole's gravitational pull was too strong, causing his hands to gradually let go of the ship's bow.

"What's going on? What's happening?!" The others, hearing the commotion, also rushed over.

Before they could even react, Luffy couldn't hold on any longer and was sucked straight in.

"Luffy!" Zoro quickly tried to grab Luffy, but it was too late; he had been completely swallowed.

Forty years ago, parallel worlds

Garp, 38, was furious; he had just lost track of that damned Roger. He had spent a whole month pursuing the Straw Hat pirate, and yet he had carelessly lost sight of him.

"Damn it! Roger, if you're so brave, then hide somewhere and don't let me find you. Otherwise, I'll..." The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, and he reached for the entire packet of rice crackers in his hand and devoured it.

The story is that he heard rumors that traces of Roger's pirate crew had appeared on this small island, so he came all the way here.

But when he arrived, he found out they had already left a long time ago. That's why Garp was so angry.

He's currently in the forest, looking for an animal to vent his anger on and fill his rumbling stomach.

While he was still fuming with anger, a black hole suddenly appeared above his head.

"What is this?" Garp looked at it in surprise.

"Wait! What's that? Is that a person?" He narrowed his eyes, his powerful Observation Haki allowing him to see from afar that what had fallen out of the black hole was a human figure.

"Let's go take a look!" he said, then ran towards where the person had fallen. He wanted to see who this strange appearance was.

As for Luffy, who was sucked in, he doesn't remember what it felt like inside the black hole.

I just felt a very nauseating sensation, like someone was shaking me around and then throwing me out.

"A~! Why are there so many stars~?" Luffy lay on the ground, completely stunned.

By the time he regained his composure, he saw a very tall figure standing in front of him—it was Garp, who had just arrived.

He looked at the young man before him, so young and so adorable. He didn't know why, but he felt a strange sense of familiarity with the boy, even though they had never met.

But he knew this teenager wasn't simple, and the reason goes without saying. Who could possibly fall from a height of 100 meters and still be unharmed?

He frowned, looking at the young man in front of him and questioning:

"Hey, kid! Who are you?"

"Huh? Are you asking me? Why do you look so familiar?" Luffy frowned when he heard the question. He felt that this person really resembled someone he knew, but he couldn't remember who. Luffy's face blindness had relapsed.

"I don't know you, kid! Tell me who you are and why you fell from the sky!" Garp frowned upon hearing Luffy's words; he genuinely liked this kid.

"Why did I fall?! I don't know. And what about my name?!" Hearing Garp's question, Luffy slowly stood up, adjusted his straw hat which had fallen off his back, put it back on his head, and said loudly:

"I am Monkey D. Luffy! The one who will become the Pirate King!"

What! Monkey D. Luffy?

"What did you say your name was?" Too shocked by the other person's surname, Garp didn't pay attention to the rest of the question.

"Monkey D. Luffy, of course! You look young, but are you hard of hearing?" Hearing the panicked tone of the other person, Luffy tilted his head in confusion, looking at him.

"You said your last name is Monkey D! So who is your father?" He really wanted to know who the teenager's father was; he thought the whole family consisted only of himself and his 15-year-old son.

"My father? I think my grandfather said... Ah! I remember now, it's Monkey D. Dragon!" Luffy racked his brain for a whole day just to remember his biological father's name when Garp asked that.

"What? Your father is Dragon? How old are you?" Hearing his son's name, Garp was slightly startled. His son was only 15 years old; how could he possibly have fathered such a grown-up child?

"I'm 19 years old. And Uncle, why are you asking this?" he asked, looking confusedly at the familiar man in front of him.

"How is that possible! My son is only 15 years old, how could he give birth to a 19-year-old?!" Garp became even more skeptical about the meaning of life upon hearing this. Even if his son had conceived while still in the womb, he couldn't possibly have given birth to an adult like Luffy.

"That's not right! Who is your grandfather?" he suddenly reacted. Could that relative have named his son after him?

"My grandfather is Monkey D. Garp, of course. You're asking too many questions, Uncle!" Luffy looked at his uncle, who was yelling in front of him, with suspicion.

"My name is Monkey D. Garp, and I've never had a grandson this big!" Garp officially broke the silence upon hearing his name.

"What! But my grandfather is 78 years old, Uncle, are you mistaken?" This time it was Luffy's turn to panic. Looking closely, this uncle really did resemble his grandfather, even the scar above his eye was exactly the same, only this person looked much younger.

"78 years old? What year were you born, kid?" Seeing that Luffy didn't seem to be lying, Garp pressed him.

"I was born in 1422," Luffy replied without hesitation when he heard the question.

"1422, that's 40 years later. Could you be my grandson from the future?" Garp stared in astonishment at the young man before him. Luffy was just too cute. He and Dragon were completely different from that time, so he found it hard to believe this was his own grandson.

"Dragon, what kind of beauty are you going to find in the future?" Even his own father suspects Dragon might have married the wrong woman, so how can you blame anyone else?

"The future?" our little Luffy tilted his head in confusion.

"Do you have anything on you that proves you're from the future?" Garp, ignoring Luffy's innocent expression, urgently asked.

"Huh? Yes, is this okay?" he said, pulling out a wanted poster of himself from his pocket. He'd just shoved it in after looking at it last time; it was wrinkled after a wash, but he could still make out the general idea.

Garp quickly took it to examine it, and was astonished to see the year written on it: 1441. Then he looked up at Luffy; this child was indeed his grandson
.

"Wait a minute! The future? Are you Grandpa?!" Luffy finally reacted, pointing in horror at the man who looked exactly like his grandfather.

"I'm probably your grandfather. You're in the past 40 years," Garp said, feeling somewhat relieved after confirming that this was his grandson.

"Really! Is this Grandpa when he was young? He hasn't changed at all, except he doesn't have gray hair anymore!" Luffy excitedly walked over to Garp to admire his young grandfather, when suddenly a voice echoed in his head.

[I'm sorry, Luffy, I brought you here without telling you beforehand.]

"Who's there? Come out!" Luffy looked around cautiously, but apart from Garp, there was no one else.

"What's wrong? Is someone there?" Garp looked at Luffy's expression in confusion; he couldn't sense anything. No one could escape his Observation Haki.

"There's a voice that keeps echoing in my head!" Luffy said without hesitation when his grandfather asked him.

[Don't look any further, I'm speaking in your head. No one else can sense anything without my permission.]

I am the world of consciousness, and I need your help.

"Inside my head! What is this world of consciousness?!" Luffy said angrily, he didn't like having someone crawl into his head.

[It is the consciousness of the world in which you are.]

I need your help.

"Help? Help with what?" the rubber boy asked, confused.

[Because of certain factors that prevent some important characters from being born, I need your help.]

"What does it matter to me if someone isn't born? I couldn't possibly have given birth to them!" The more I listened, the more confused I became.

[You can do it, you're the chosen one, so you can.]

The strange voice carried an undeniable certainty.

"I won't do it! I have to be the Pirate King, I'm not getting married!" Although usually quite carefree, Luffy understood that to have children, one had to get married, so he flatly refused.

[What if I said that Ace and Sabo weren't born?]

Hearing Luffy say that, the voice of consciousness had no choice but to use its ultimate move.

As expected, when Luffy heard it was related to his older brother, he immediately became anxious.

"What do you mean? What do you mean they can't be born? Aren't their parents still here?"

Due to some unfortunate events, their parents disappeared before they were born.

That's why I'm asking you for help. So, do you agree?

Actually, he was tricking Luffy. Their parents were still alive, but he figured out that his world wouldn't have a sun god, so he planned to trick Luffy into coming over so that Luffy would bear him a child.

As for Sabo and Ace's parents, he can easily get his hands on them. He could just stuff Ace and Sabo into Luffy's stomach and be done with it. It's too easy; he's already thoroughly studied Luffy's personality.

As for Luffy's partner, he should choose someone strong and attractive. His Sun God can't be ugly.

"But what about my crewmates?" Luffy was moved by this, but then hesitated, thinking of his crewmates.

[Don't worry, once it's over, I'll take you back to the time you first arrived here.]

It won't affect you at all, so just agree. Then you can even raise your two older brothers as well.

You will be the oldest.

The world of consciousness is like a devil, its gentle voice whispering in Luffy's ear, luring him in.

"The biggest! I agree!" As soon as Luffy heard he was the biggest, he excitedly agreed.

[Okay! One more thing, don't tell anyone that you're from the future or why you're here.]

If you tell anyone, I'll use gag order on you.

You can say it if you want, but no one else will hear it.

Knowing that Luffy might not understand what a forbidden word is, the world's kindred spirit explains it to him.

"But what if Grandpa already knows?" Luffy asked, glancing at Garp, who was staring at him in bewilderment.

[I'll use that method too. You can tell him you're from the future, but don't reveal too much.]

"Understood!" Luffy nodded seriously, though he didn't know how long he'd been able to remember.

【Just that!

I'm leaving now.

Goodbye.】

"Oh! Goodbye!" After speaking to the conscious world, Luffy turned to look at the old man he had been ignoring all this time.

"What exactly happened? Who were you talking to?" Garp asked, shaking Luffy's shoulder.

"Ah! It's a conscious world. He said he accidentally brought me here, so he apologized and said he'll take me back after a while." Luffy broke out in a cold sweat from lying. It was really hard for him to lie, but since he'd promised not to tell, he had to deceive his grandfather.

And what about Garp, who inherited Luffy's bluntness and was also very confused, so he didn't realize Luffy was lying?

"So you really are my grandson!" Garp asked happily upon hearing this.

"Yes! I'm your nephew!"

"So why did you become a pirate? And you even want to be the Pirate King?!" Knowing it was his nephew, Garp immediately took action. He'd been hearing Luffy utter the words "Pirate King" for ages and was itching to fight.

"Oh! Why are you hitting me, Grandpa!"

After a chase, Garp finally let Luffy go, albeit with a swollen head.

"Why do Grandpa's punches always hurt so much?" Luffy winced, rubbing the bump on his head.

"Hmph! A loving punch will always work!" Garp snorted confidently upon hearing that.

"That's right! From now on, don't call me Grandpa anymore. Call me Daddy, okay?"

"Why not? Grandpa is Grandpa!"

"I'm only 38 years old, how could I have a 19-year-old grandson, you idiot!" Garp felt helpless upon hearing that thoughtless question.

"Oh, I see! Okay, Daddy!" After hearing Garp's explanation, Luffy immediately corrected himself and called him "Daddy" in an extremely sweet tone.

"That's more like it!" Hearing such a sweet address, Garp's heart swelled with joy. After all, Dragon always called him "father" stiffly, without any hint of affection.

Hearing Luffy call him that made him very happy. After all, Luffy had always called him "Grandpa" before, which didn't feel right to him. Now that he called him "Daddy," he realized how affectionate the little one was.

"Let's go! Daddy will take you to find some food to celebrate your arrival!" Garp happily dragged Luffy along to find prey.

"Meat!" Luffy immediately got excited at the mention of food, and obediently let Garp drag him along.

Who knows what outrageous things Luffy will do in this world? Let's find out!
